Can’t possibly have been Craig Levein as the post said fairly respected coach😉 But Hickey could be extremely valuable for the next few games for Scotland if his form continues
dandydunn
Hickey was fucking useless. This is a player that was too good for the u-21’s, well I’m sorry, but he should never pull on a shirt again. Got to the halfway line with a chance to attack fullbacks and constantly stopping, simply not good enough, get him to fuck now.
ErsatzThistle
He was bad in the first half, no argument about that but he did improve in the second half. I'd persevere with him, he's still only a lad.
Malcolm
Very poor performance

Get to fuck a 19 year old who was nominated for young player of the year in Serie A.

That would justify his attitude of jumping the u-21’s as he was too good for that? Fuck him.

Not his fault he was played on the other side of defence from his usual position on his first international start.

He attempted a cross around the 60 minute mark, it barely made the box and then trotted back to defence as Ukraine pushed forward and he needed someone to cover as he could t be arsed busting a gut to get back. Sinoly not good enough for all the hype.
Malcolm
I’m a fan of hickey but he was poor tonight. Final ball was terrible. If I was o donnel I would be well pissed off.
AlfieMoon
Seemed a strange decision to start him in this game. Especially with McTominay at RCB (where I’d never have him playing). Then you factor in Hickeys clear tendency to favour his left foot. Got better in 2nd half and is one for the future but I think SOD or Ralston would have been better options tonight. No reason to get on the boys case though.
Tartan Chris
Struggled tonight, needs more time to settle in at international level. Would be easy to bring back S O'D for nations league games but Hickey needs run of games to get into groove as he obviously has talent for what he's producing at Bologna so might aswell stick with him against weaker opposition before Patterson returns in September. Barney Rubble
Hickey got found out tonight sadly. Never ever a right back and certainly not an international standard right back. And with every respect to Tartan Chris, we do not have the luxury to bed in a player who is not international standard in competitive games when there is a proven 25-cap solution in the squad. BraveheartGordon
Badly missed Nathan Patterson’s pace and direct 1 v 1 running. Hickey’s more of a false midfielder than a wing-back.
Malcolm
Wrong game for hickey. He isn’t as direct.
supersub
Think he was a bit too cavalier in first half and got caught out with a few balls in behind. Ukraine seemed to have a lot of 2 v 1's on Hickey's side during a forgettable first 45. Wing backs depend on cover in behind but it was lacking. Steep learning curve in this one but would rather have a natural right back. McTominay in defence is a waste though. Attributes of a holding midfielder and naturally wants to push forward with the ball which leaves a gap to fill in behind.
PapofGlencoe
He shouldn't have been thrown in like that. Footballs a team game. What has been developed and worked at bologna should have had minutes in earlier games in a scotland jersey Wasn't the game to try something new. Poor decision. Hope he'll come good in years to come. Either Hickey with a natural CB, who can cover Hickey and position themselves properly or McTominay with O'Donnell, to help cover for McTominay. Using a CM at CB next to a kid making his first full start in a massive game, was very poor from Clarke. Wrong choice.
vanderark14
He was out of his depth IMO and like the other 9 outfield players he didn't bust a gut.
Toepoke
Had a poor game but definitely not the biggest problem with our team.
0Neils40yarder
The reaction towards a 19year old starting his 1st game and playing poorly is beyond belief considering... ...our strikers looked like they couldn't trap a bag of cement, our midfield 3 were lightweight and chasing shadows, our captain was every bit as poor as the young guy on the other side, and our two centre backs looked every bit the relegation haunted fodder that they are. The fact that we only looked semi-competent when McTominay went into midfield tells us all we need to know.
