It is the fourth game to be called off at Dens Park this season following heavy rainfall. It would seem that it's not just the rain that is the problem

Diamond Scot
Poorly maintained grass pitches are just as big a problem as the astro pitches imo. Clubs should be forced to spend a minimum amount on their pitch and upkeep if they want to play in the top league.

duncan II
Typical huns. Knackered after their doing in Europe a few days ago, bound to drop points on a heavy pitch today, manage to "persuade" ref to call it off. Then pretend they're annoyed in order to appease the low-lifes that follow them. I reckon.
slasher
In the Netherlands top flight clubs are incentivised to maintain pitches to the highest standards by tapping into a central fund. That fund comes from the clubs who qualify for Europe donating 3.75% of their Euro income. A perfectly sensible solution that should be applied here……provided all plastic monstrosities are removed of course!

EddardStark
I think the Dundee owner or chairman was indicating that Rangers players and management should hang around whilst the ground staff dried the pitch with an assortment of hair dryers and blow torches. I saw this post earlier and didn’t have any intention to reply(bite) but having seen a few things on twitter some folk are daft enough to believe this sort of thing. It beggars belief it really does Do you think Sevco would want to potentially go into the next Old Firm game a point behind albeit with a game in hand or go into it with the points on the board? N4Footsoldier
I think regardless of who it may advantage/disadvantage in the title race, the entire procedure and playbook around pitch inspections and pre-emptive action and contingencies needs to be looked at. Most other leagues when a game is called off for pitch conditions, there seems to be a common understanding that the game could not go ahead despite any best efforts. 2 or 3 weekends this season now there's been gripe over the communication of games being called off. While you can't control the conditions, you can control the communication around it, and when this breaks down it makes the league look tinpot when clubs resort to public mudslinging off the back of it towards officials or each other. Take the example of Dundee, if a game is in doubt, there happens in their case to be an equally suitable facility just over the road, so you could build a short notice plan for making that switch that takes into account all stakeholders and requirements to support. In pretty much any industry, management would be expected to have such contingency plans in place for equivalent continuity scenarios. How did the investigation go into the game at Dens that had a delayed start due to the away team not managing the 90 minute journey on time, or the same game having to be stopped after a few minutes because the same clubs moronic supporters caused mayhem with the stadiums fire/smoke safety alarm systems.
