Sad as she has/ had the ability to lead Scotland to independence but doesn't seem to really want to. Taking such a extreme position on this certainly isn't helping her approval ratings/nor suoport for indy.

Not sure how her refusing to say he's a man, that's a rapist and clearly at it is in any way helping actual genuine cases of people wgi wish to change sex for legitimate reasons. If anything she's only feeding crackpots like Wings

Its a difficult position to take though as presumably she has never met the person so she is in no position to say with any certainty.

Its a minefield no matter what she says.

It was an issue that could easily have been sidestepped too.  They've done it with other manifesto promises - like the national energy company - but have, for some reason, persevered with this instead. 

It was obvious that the legislation was controversial at best and had the potential to be twisted and blown out of proportion by their opponents. That the same process has been enacted successfully in other countries doesn't matter - these countries are not trying to gain independence from a much bigger neighbour where most of their media are based - and naturally, those facts go largely unreported.

I'm starting to wonder if this is going to turn out to be Sturgeon's poll tax moment.  At least the poll tax was an issue that affected everybody.

Certainly starting to look they way. I think she was of the view it would have been seen as scotland being this progressive country and would set her a job elsewhere in time when he steps down. She's been extremely naive IMO and now trying herself in knots.

Disingenuously the press have failed to mention the cross-party support for the bill; Labour, Lib Dems and the Greens are barely if ever mentioned.  No great shock, though, it's Sturgeon's scalp they're after.

Your asking the SNP to be absolutely perfect, you're asking the impossible. The opposition will always find some sort of ammo against the SNP. If anyone is turned off Independence because of gender reform or because sturgeon didn't call someone he, they were never really up for it in the first place. See malcolm as the perfect example, these voters wants some sort of utopia where everything they desire is delivered if Independence is won. The slightest lean to the left or right by the snp loses votes because so many don't understand what Independence is.
