Mitre
Sorry to contradict you, but he did not. His goal v Spain was KennyDal's last at international level. The goal v Belgium was in 78-79. Belgium goal was qualifiers for Euro 84 end of 1982 in Brussels http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/international_fixture_details.cfm?page=1921&matchID=57867

flynnyboy
Lee Wilkie would've been our captain and a scotland great had it not been for his horrendous injury. John Kennedy was an average centre half and his almost mythical status he is held in by some is unwarranted.

I'd probably agree with the first statement, especially gaining experience under Weir
Slide tackle
Our centre back options arent THAT bad, maybe not as much cover as in other positions but hanley, martin, berra are all decent

Aye, apologies, the memory and all that. 82 as Mitre says. Had forgot his first goal that night, a beauty of a finish too but his second is outstanding. But coming back to aaid's original point, performances like that were very infrequent in a Scotland shirt unfortunately. Here's some grainy vid of the Belgium game.. Angus_Young
. John Kennedy was playing for a very good celtic team under martin o'Neil and was being linked with ac Milan before his injury. By the same journo that linked izzaguire with Man Utd by any chance? Always mind Kennedy up against Chris Burke at Ibrox one game. Cracking tussle by two up and coming players. Never worked out for either of them unfortunately.

I don't think he was ever tipped as a ginger Messi in waiting.

COLT NY
Archie Gemill's goal in WC78 was nicely taken, but not really all that special. More to do with 3 defenders and the goalkeeper needlessly diving in than anything else.

irnbruman
David Speedie and Steve Archibald were totally shyte in a Scotland shirt. Andy Goram (when he played) - probs our best ever keeper.

I just felt he might have have gone on to bigger and better things that's all, for club and country.

PASTA Mick
Most Scotland fans are clueless about football. Some of the rubbish you hear folk shouting during the match is embarrassing. It's even worse talking to some people before the match.
