Not sure if a presidential pardon works before you’ve even been charged let alone convicted. I guess they could give him immunity. However, the problem with that is that would only be at Federal level assuming it was possible. It he’s going to face charges they’re likely to be at state level and in particular New York who’ve been investigating him - particularly his tax affairs - for some time. But philosophically he may have been the boot up the backside America needed to examine it's own soull. If there is one thing about him he has split America down the middle. Will the decision affect Scotland? Indirectly yes as there may be changes in import taxes there. For example 25% on single malt whisky. That is a joke so hopefully the new guy will look to ease barriers like that for us. Glad they don't have that in the Borders. Looking forward to a wee dram for the Motherwell game. Every vote that goes against him has no integrity the media is fake news. If the vote goes for him he accepts it and celebrates the second the media calls it. Saw Fox News had cut off the Press Secretary this morning for spouting unsubstantiated stuff around voter fraud. Looks like they're on about launching 30 days of legal challenges. Richard Pilger has quit who would have headed up the DOJ's investigation as believes Barr's intent to get involved at federal level is unethical as its not been done before and is only now being introduced. The legal stuff all has to be concluded before the College meet mid-December but not really sure what happens if they flood the system with that many cases it can't cope. The other bit that is up in the air is if a 'faithless elector' casts their vote in the college against the vote of their state. In 33 states there is legislation to void the validity of this but not in Pennsylvania or Wisconsin! There isn't precedent for removing the sitting President either if they decide to squat - previous times where its been ill-tempered respect for the institution seems to have kicked in but that seems a stretch with the Don!
