philip_OATN
Dan Crowley. I watched him play for Birmingham City the other night, a few years ago watched him play for England youth teams and thought he'd be a star, although at 22 years old I suppose there is still time. Terry Munro
James McFadden didn't play (Or start) as many club games as he'd have liked I'm sure, albeit some of that was down to injury. Like David Healy, he'll be more remembered for what he done for his country than club level.

He was never a regular starter at Everton, who were a pretty good team at the time to be fair to him, but then never recovered from the injuries he had at Birmingham. His first few months back at Motherwell he showed more than just flashes of what he could do, and had added a bit more to his game, meaning he contributed more than just the odd mazy run and wonder goal, but he seems to have chucked it essentially at the end of that season, fannyed about and missed pre-season, then got injured and was a shadow of himself after that. Was pretty sad how his career just fizzled out.
sbcmfc
Paddy McCourt has to be on this list. Although classing him as British might be mildly controversial. 😂

How good could he have been if he was an athlete or had any desire to be one?

A scorer of a few wonder goals but ultimately he was no better than the guy in everyone's year at school who "could have made it if it wasn't for his love of bevy/burds/gear/gang fighting" Think there's a bit of myth surrounding the cunt in all honesty, and more so because he was an actual Celtic fan from Derry. I doubt too many would even remember him otherwise
sbcmfc
See your point, but that’s harsh! Not to compare him or get all misty eyed, but he seemed like a player from another era. He’d have got away with only being able to last an hour and not tracking back until the late 80s/early 90s. He was a luxury player these days, that’s why he was limited to Cameos and league cup games.

In fact his best contribution in a Celtic shirt was skudding Whittaker in the Samara's 2-0 game.

philip_OATN
Maybe Rodney Marsh? I remember a story that when he played for England under Don Revie, Revie told him: "Marsh, if you don't follow my instructions today, I'll be pulling you off at half time" and Rodney Marsh replied "blimey, at QPR all I usually get is an orange". Apparently he'd spend the pre-matches, when at Reading, in the Spread Eagle pub, over the road from Elm Park (Reading's ground at the time), before the game and would be put in a freezing shower to sober him up. Once the game had finished, he'd walk straight through the changing room and back to the pub. 🤣 He also once kicked Mark Lawrenson in the face in the middle of a game - something I want to do every time he appears on TV. heroin addict ; 3 1/2 seasons in the lower reaches of football league , then sad demise not exactly role model material
