Rude Gullit
Another goal for Hastie. Might just be a purple patch but there's also a chance we've got another good prospect on our hands. Reminds me a lot of Ryan Fraser.

Is it insane to call him up to the next squad?
ProudScot
Mulgrew having an absolute howler for Blackburn. cost them first goal & then miss headed it and led to a straight red for Derrick Williams. Total bombscare of a CB.

I don’t think he has Fraser’s pace. Promising all the same. I saw a fair bit of the second half and thought the football was rotten.

Tartan Chris
This Byers kid scored for Swansea today, Swans got 3-4 Scottish players in their squad. Lots of unheralded players in form so interesting squad announcement in 3 weeks.

Of course the squad will have the usual core of 15 experienced/usual places but the other 5-6 should be with more of a long term view in mind especially in attacking area where team is still a little weak and no doubt will call up players over 30 now like Fletcher and Naismith. Would call up Hastie, Eamonn Brophy and maybe Jack Harper to refresh the attacking areas.
ErsatzThistle
Bloody hell some people are far too obsessed with these player stat websites. Perhaps it's time to ignore these now ?

ErsatzThistle
With regard to Che Adams. If he does (rightly or wrongly) end up playing for us, is he the kind of striker that can play up front on his own or does he need someone up there alongside him ? Has anyone actually seen him play ? What are his strengths and weaknesses ?

What are his strengths and weaknesses ? He works better alongside a targetman. They've been playing Lukas Jutkewicz alongside him so wins loads in the air and so Adams runs onto his flick ons. He's pretty quick and has had a few goals when he's held it up on edge of the box, turned and scored into bottom corner. Not sure how good he'd be upfront on his own but if the 3-5-2 is continued him and Fletcher might be good. Some of his goals here.... Really hoped he'd have been brought on earlier when Matic looked likely to get a 2nd yellow but instead has to come on for a cameo.

For who? Everton u23s? That's the problem. Hornby is 19, he should be banging the goals in at professional level, not at reserve team level. If Hornby reaches the Everton first team and starts playing and scoring even semi regularly for them in the EPL then fine, he's first pick for Scotland. As it stands he's just another promising youth - though admittedly one playing in a position we are poorly stocked in.

He had a long injury lay off.... there’s every chance he will be involved in the Everton first team in the coming weeks. But I agree, he shouldn’t be selected until he is playing first team football. andyD
Ethan Hamilton made is 3 goals in 6 games for Rochdale last night, as they went down 4-3 to Wimbledon. Highlights aren't on youtube yet, so haven't seen the one from last night, but his first goal was a decent effort from 30-35 yards with his left. The 2nd was cutting in from the left and finishing into the far corner with his right. League One is a pretty horrific level of football, but you can only play against the team that's on the field with you. 3 goals in 6 for a player who seems to be largely a defensive mid (certainly built like one) is noteworthy, especially given it's his first competitive games at any club. He's at Rochdale to the end of the season, then back to Man Utd.
