Home draws to ICT and Partick when (i think) we had the chance to go top (although Celtic would have had a game in hand, i think). Every single time Aberdeen dropped points folk said we'd bottled it. No one references us beating Celtic with just 10 men or us beating them or our other victory vs them, or us going on an 8 game winning run, including wins at Tanndice and Tynecastle. It's just a bit tedious TBH and comes mainly from folk who've never kicked a baw in their puff. I can assure you that many, many people did. Apart from the opening 8 games, Aberdeen had an awful season and somehow managed to lose 11 times in the next 30 games and ended up with only 71 points, despite picking up 24/24 at the start. That is dreadful and should have seen McInnes getting his jotters.

Read that, which suggests Moult is off, which is also being rumoured. Don't fancy Stokes at all, don't think he'd be a good guy to have at your club. Firstly, that's closer (and just as close) as Hearts got in 2005/06. So the statement that 'Hearts have been closer to winning the league than any other non-OF team' is simply incorrect. Secondly, you have to look a little bit at the context. In 2005/06 Hearts never, ever got close to Celtic for the last 5 months of the season. There was no challenge as such. For the last 2 seasons, Aberdeen have been in with a theoretical chance of winning the league with around 5/6 games to go. Both years we've completely run out of puff come April. In neither of these seasons did we (IMHO) have a squad really capable of winning the league. But the fact that we got so 'close' both times with a much smaller squad than Celtic and having to begin our season in June, is commendable. P.S. Let's not forget as well that in 2005/06, Hearts literally threw millions at their squad to try and compete. We have Ash Taylor.

Aberdeen has gone backwards as a club over the last 2 season, no matter what the Aberdeen fans try to say Hearts splitting the old firm is bigger than that of Aberdeen finishing in second place with no old firm

Taking 6 points off Celtic last season wasn't bad. Having lost all 12 points to Celtic the season before to getting a split with them must be seen as an improvement. That's a 24 point swing down to zero. That's forward. And it was only last season.
