irnbruman
Been watching BBC and Sky news today. Overwhelming bias in favour of not breaking up the Union. Surely this is illegal so close to referendum. Just make it so much more enjoyable when the establishment has two fingers rammed right up them next week. Auld_Reekie
Yep. I dont even know if it's enforceable by law or whether the Electoral Commission (or whoever) are even bothering monitoring TV coverage, but some broadcast media are providing rolling coverage of the No campaign at the moment. Toepoke
Nick Robinson just comparing a section of the Yes supporters to be the same as those that support Farage To be fair he was saying the similarity was that they both wanted to shake up the political system, not that Yes voters are old school racist bigots... exile
The BT campaign are faltering but the BBC are just getting into their stride. Just seen Newsnight - the presenters keep repeating over and over again the line that come yes or no, more powers will be coming. Sometimes they even say 'more powers guaranteed'. And once they even said something like one offering independence and one offering (something like) 'a little bit more independence' The Yes campaign ought to defend against this robustly, rather than going around saying the BT are panicking. Everyone knows they are panicking. Not everyone knows the difference between 'more powers' and 'more powers guaranteed'.
Stapes
Been down south for the last couple of days with no TV and limited internet access. Can someone tell me how it's been going? With the MSM now involved working through what's been happening would take hours and I need to get some sleep.
mariokempes56
Media and Westminster in shitey meltdown, BBC goes into save the Union overdrive. Supposition becomes BBC fact. YES bad NO good. That enough?

With the MSM now involved working through what's been happening would take hours and I need to get some sleep. You mean, you missed the coup? Gordon Brown has made a speech in Loanhead announcing it as the new capital of the UK, and is hailed as the saviour of Britain. The three Westminster party leaders are coming to Scotland to pay homage. BBC news and current affairs have moved to Calton Hill. Saltires are being flown all over Britain, as 'tartan panic' sets in and rUK capitulates to Scottish rule.

ZoltanBuchan
Nick Robinson just comparing a section of the Yes supporters to be the same as those that support Farage To be fair he was saying the similarity was that they both wanted to shake up the political system, not that Yes voters are old school racist bigots... Didn't he also say they were a 'completely different bunch of people" as well? I was actually thinking the BBC coverage was noticeably more even tonight, although quite possibly because it's simply incapabale to spin the state of the No campaign as anything other as a disaster at the moment. That said, there was a vox pop with people stopped on the street in Chesterfield on BBC news at 10 tonight that was strongly along the lines of "get them sponging jocks to f*uck" The 1st three interviewees stated that: 1) The views of people in rUK were "being ignored" (er...yes. This doesn't concern you). 2) The people of rUK should get a vote!!! (so if the UK wanted to leave the EU, German, French etc citizens should get a vote on that, surely?) 3) In the event of a No vote, Holyrood shouldn't be allowed to "cherry pick" extra powers (when the powers we need - control over oil revenues, corporation tax, not sending our soldiers into illegal wars - are not being offered). All in all, it amounted to nothing less than a poltical broadcast for Yes Scotland! Keep it up BBC Fair play to the 4th guy interviewed though, who totally got it - that a Yes vote is about creating a fairer and better society that benefits the vast majority and not the few - and that he "takes his hat off" to the Scots. Stapes
I really dislike Nick Robinson. Clearly a unionist, comes up here, asks aggressive questions that were being asked and answered weeks ago, and then p!sses off south again right away.
