iainmac1
Not a chance. If they do there will be a catch. It won't be as simple as handing Scotland all it's revenue across the board.

Haggis_trap
The oil is basically the short term economic difference between Scotland being "better off" or "just equal" to rUK.... Cant see this happening as Westminster consider the oil to be a UK resource. No one knows how long the oil will last. The answer depends on future discovery, technology, price of a barrel, government tax breaks etc. Edited October 3, 2014 by Haggis_trap
Armchair Bob
It will never happen. It's only the oil that the powers that be want from us. (And our nuclear sub bases) (And our exports) (And our land, water, near-future strategic location, etc, etc...)
thewelk
They'll have no problem devolving it just before it runs out. Then the Scottish parliament will be responsible for the decommissioning. They might even give us independence by then. Hertsscot
No way this will happen, won't sell down south. You're not going to deprive English voters at the expense of Scottish voters. Would be political suicide, main UK parties don't have to do it, they wont do it, there's no reason why they should.
exile
It's a beautiful possibility though, if oil was demanded as part of devo settlement, on the basis it was such a small, dwindling reserve, they could hardly deny us it Could SNP demand it as part of devo deal, to be tabled before the Gen Election? And if the 'big - ish- three' said No, then the electorate could decide to say 'no thanks'

AberdeenAngus
Can't see it happening either. Perhaps given there are only 16BN barrels left as per the expert Scotland should get all the revenues from every barrel over that?

ShedTA
How the heck can nearly a third of those asked not want control of oil and gas revenues generated in Scottish waters? Am I missing something? The same ones who Voted no without bothering to read up or find out info for themselves. The eternally subservient who just want to be loyal lap dogs to their Westminster masters. Completely lost cause and quite sickening. King Of Paisley
I suspect there is a part of the No vote that honestly couldn't give a shit whether we get extra powers or not. But a large proportion of the No vote would have wanted substantial change within the Union. The former - you can definitely forget about trying to reach out to.
