weekevie04
FFS. He's paid money to coach football. The quotes are like something from the Daily Mash/Onion.

wembley67lisbon
Why are we last to change things at most sports. Ireland and Wales are rugby for instance embraced the professional game whilst it's taken Scotland about 20 years to finally do something (Glasgow). We are so far behind in almost everything we do. Lucky to have Murray (who went to Spain).

McExpat
The man is a disgrace! That was painful reading, if he were involved with another country you could laugh but as he's involved with Scotland it makes you want to cry!
ErsatzThistle
Bloody hell, our national youth teams certainly seem to attract total dimwits to the relevant posts.Ross Mathie ignoring James McCarthy purely because he played for Hamilton Accies. Mathie oversaw one failure after another at youth level. And don't anyone give me all that "but Mathie was a great servant who put in X amount of years." That proves feck all and in fact it makes things worse that he was kept on until a few years ago.Billy Stark's raging hard on for picking completely hopeless Old Firm youth team players that never had the slightest prospect of ever breaking through at their clubs. Most of them are now wallowing in the second and third tiers of the Scottish football league. Now Sbragia's penchant for long ball and battering ram style football.Sometimes you actually can judge a book by it's cover: Dumb fud. COLT NY
"but Mathie was a great servant who put in X amount of years." That kind of argument is stupid in any case. Who wouldn't want to spend their career in football? Less a "servant" more a parasite if their not doing the role properly. .. And on that note, only in Scottish football would cavemen like Sbragia earn management positions like this. Entirely unfit for the purpose. Entirely unfit for the purpose. Indeed. I remember when Mathie retired, they had the usual SFA blazer brigade plus Levein, Burley, Craig Brown and Walter Smith all singing his praises. Each of them just focussed on Mathie putting in so many years service. They all sidestepped the fact that he held us back, was responsible for overseeing repeated failures and some appalling talent scouting. Hadenuff
This must be a sacking offence. He has basically admitted he is incompetent and not carrying out his role. With him in charge there's no prospect of any of the U21's stepping up into the squad for the World Cup qualifiers, not that WGS would pick any of them above his favourites. Mazda
The secret Of Iceland's Successwell, let's help the bloke out. http://www.espnfc.co.uk/team/iceland/470/blog/post/2599399/secret-behind-iceland-euro-2016-qualification"Earlier, our objective when playing top opposition was to try and get a 0-0 draw," Thordarson said."Now, under Lagerback and Heimir Hallgrimsson, we plan to win every single game, no matter who the opponents are.The tiny country -- the smallest ever to send a team to the European Championship, with a population of just 330,000 -- is enjoying footballing success thanks to exemplary management. But now there are more than 20 full-sized artificial pitches around the country. And, equally importantly, more than 150 small pitches where young kids can train all year round.thats equivalent to Scotland having 320 full size & 2400 small pitches of that kind, for the youngsters.Even more remarkable has been the coaching revolution in Iceland. Under the guidance of Sigurdur Ragnar Eyjolfsson, who started working as director of education at the Icelandic FA (KSI) in 2002, hundreds of specialists got UEFA coaching licences.Quite incredibly, in 2010 alone, no fewer than 630 coaches attended different UEFA courses, which works out as 0.2 percent of Iceland's populationN Ireland adopted Iceland approach a couple of years ago !https://ianjamesparsley.wordpress.com/2013/10/21/northern-ireland-football-in-wastelands-until-we-follow-icelands-lead/So did Malta
