Charlie Endell
Aye, also think a greater legacy than one 'classic' album is needed to qualify (ok, two if you count Hatful of Hollow as a 'proper' album).

How dare you... The Smiths The Queen is Dead Strangeways Here We Come Meat is Murder All great albums... And of course Hatful of Hollow was a proper album. Larky Masher
Joy Division/New Order Joy Division without a doubt but post Low-Life New Order fell off a cliff and released some utter dross so I wouldn't cross the road to see them now though I am going to see Peter Hook and the Light in September. Parklife
NWA. Their social impact transcends music. One of the most influential bands ever. A Dre beat and an Eazy-E verse - it doesn't get better than that.

I wouldn't pay that to see a Hookless NO - that and Brandon Flowers involvement in the new album are enough to put me off. I generally agree with you post Low Life, but Technique is a favourite of mine - there's a great run of three tracks on it (start of side 2 - I bought it on LP - ah, those were the days...). Power Corruption and Lies was the crossover album for me. Mainly keech with one of two good songs such as Your Silent Face and Leave Me Alone. You're right tho that they went on to do such mince as Confusion, Bizarre Love Triangle and the like. However, they did eventually go on to do one or two decent pop songs like Regret and True Faith.
