SkyBlueScot
Didn't see the Europa matches last night but Tierney is coming in for high praise from lots of sources. From the Evening Times: Kieran Tierney Superb from start to finish. His pace was too much for Rosenborg, his passing McStay-ess and the left-back’s crossing deserved so much more. Solid at the back as well. Even went close to a goal with a long-range effort. Different class. 9 For all the talk of who is better, Robertson or Tierney, maybe we'll get to point in the next few years that Scotland will have Europe's two best left-backs? Tartan_McCole
Aye, Tierney was excellent. Gave Rosenborgs right hand side no end of bother.
er yir macaroon
Tierney was outstanding. He’ll never be quite world class at Celtic, but if he moves to a top league soon he might get there.
er yir macaroon
Middleton was also outstanding when he came on last night. He caused the full back all sorts of problems and played a beautiful pass for the second goal. He’s another who will struggle to get in a 3-5-2 though. As for whether he'd get into a 352, it all depends on how good he gets. If he finds his level at Rangers/SPFL Prem then McLeish is unlikely to change the national setup to accomodate him. But say Chelsea buy him and he becomes their star winger in the EPL, then I'd expect McLeish to do the pragmatic thing and reshape his team to use Middleton. er yir macaroon
Middleton actually has the build for a wing back, but he’d need to be pretty good to get into our team.

Tierney was excellent last night - easily our best player. I really enjoy the Tierney v Robertson debate. It's not the sort of debate we get to have much as Scotland fans; deciding who is the best of two top draw players. Recently it's probably only the Gordon v McGregor debate which comes close but I think the full-backs are both higher on the global league for their position than the two 'keepers ever were. This time last year I would have said Tierney was the better player but I think Robertson has taken the lead since breaking into the Liverpool side and having such a big impact on what is a very good Liverpool team. Saying that, Tierney has not long turned 21. He has 11 Scotland caps, 3 league titles, 3 cup wins and 35 appearances in Europe. At the same age Robertson had 8 Scotland caps and a Championship play-off win to his name so KT is certainly doing much better than Robertson was at the same point in his career. I think both players would walk into most teams in Europe. It's not often we get to say that about one of our players, never-mind two. It is just a shame they play in the same position. Recently, we have been blessed with multiple reliable top notch goalkeepers in Gordon, McGregor and Marshall. We also had a firm foundation in central midfield with Fletcher, Brown, Ferguson and others very capable in that area and invariably somebody had to miss out. We've been strong in areas at times but with holes in other parts of our team. At present we just lack strength and depth up front but at least things are looking up on the central defensive front. If we could find a couple or more strikers of top international quality we'd be in very good shape.

True. He also looks like if he wasn't a footballer he'd be a fat b*stard! do like what I've seen of him tho. He seems naturally confident and quite unorthodox for a modern winter in that he loves driving at his opponent instead of checking back or trying to pass round them.
