What has Strachan actually done in the last six games? We could easily have drawn with Slovenia at home, drawn with Slovakia and lost to Slovenia away. The only games we won convincingly were against Lithuania and Malta. Hardly manager of the year material. Not suggesting manager of the year for a second, purley playing devils advocat. As I say I'm on the fence probably more teetering for him to go but the run of form had been good, Slovenia at home we totally deserved the win and probably last Thursday as well. We could easily have beat England if a couple of players make different decisions so it works both ways There is always that element of risk in replacing any manager but Moyes fills me with dread. ParisInAKilt
Staggering that after his genetics comments people are still defending Strachan. He should be told to fck off immediately but knowing Scotland he’ll get another campaign.

He doesn't actually strike me as being that bright. There have to be several better options but I have a bad feeling that he may be in the frame. Of course he’ll be in the frame. He was successful at Everton (relatively speaking) and has experience of managing Man Utd and abroad. He’s not any worse than McLeish. The only thing that may stop him from being considered was his sexist pish a while back. Not sure if this would put the dinosaurs at the SFA off though. I think there are better options though and it doesn’t necessarily need to be a big name.
ParisInAKilt
When it came to the Slovenia game Strachan bottled it and went back to the failed tactics of the start of the campaign, a slow midfield and sitting back allowing teams better than us technically to dictate play. 3 campaigns and we still can’t defend a set piece. Ffs and people want him to continue.

I thought you were suggesting Dick there for a minute. We did deserve to beat Slovenia at home but we damn near didn’t. Maybe with another manager we might have won more convincingly? The guy has has his two chances to get us a playoff (one of them third place would have done) never mind qualifying and he hasn’t managed it. Time for a change. End of story. thplinth
After I watched his interview after he re-took the job after the last failed campaign I was convinced he was just doing it for the last pay check. Think he knew he was done really but also knew it was his last real job in football so would not let go. I kinda forgave him for that as I do think he is a good man at heart. If he re-takes it for a third time he can go fhuck himself. Edited October 11, 2017 by thplinth

Looks like it. Seems like people would be happy for another third place with Strachan than risk another manager in case we get fourth. Doesn’t make sense to me. Paulo2576
Think it's likely he's gonna go one way or the other. Seems to be a clamour for a foreign manager this time which on the face of it I'm ok with. My concern however is the potential for the complete dilution of our team via team selections. My fear is that with no real connection to our country that every avenue will be exploited and we'll end up with a team of matt Elliot's taking the field. Could be a million miles off, just putting it out there!!!

Highly accurate journalism in that case. I have a feeling Moyes has been lined up for a while. Think it was reported in the press after the defeats to England and Slovakia. Not making the play-offs has probably clinched things. Edited October 12, 2017 by Saint4805
CNelson
David Moyes would be a step backwards in my opinion, see him as nothing more than a boring draw specialist and would only condemn us to a few more years of uninspiring football before he walked away with yet another payoff cheque for a job in which he failed to achieve anything as usual. Agreed. Would strike me as being another Levein-esque appointment. He'd need to get off to a flying start otherwise things could turn badly rather quickly. Totally agree, we are finally in a position to gain a playoff place after our terrible start to the campaign and Strachan reverts to the failed tactics from the beginning. Its almost like he refuses to pick the form players because that would be agreeing with the fans and journalists. Why does he have to be so pigheaded.
