League Cup 2016/17

Recommended Posts

Quietly optimistic about Motherwell's chances tonight.

Choosing to ignore our 7-0 spanking on the last day of the season, we beat them there on our other visit last season.

Celtic have a recent record of getting bumped out the league cup by teams no better than Motherwell (killie, st mirren, Ross county and Morton) , and tend to not play their strongest 11 in the earlier rounds, particularly with a Champions league qualifier on the horizon...

Griffiths out, but unfortunately so is Ambrose, imagine a few of the new players will get a run.

Certainly the sort of game Celtic might have lost in recent seasons, so from their point of view might be an interesting marker on Brendan Rodgers.

Motherwell were apparently 20/1 last night. I saw 14/1 this morning, now best price 10/1.

10/1 maybe about right, 14 and 20 were great prices.

Not having a decent keeper signed has cost us both cup ties.  Weird game last night for Hibs, totally dominant but only had one goal to show for it at half time.  Never looked in danger till the first QOS goal went in then panic stations.

Someone questioned why I would take £1.5 million for Cummings, if you had seen the game last night, you would see why.

Also, Lennon played a 5-3-2 last night against QOS.  One of our midfielders was Keatings, who although played well shows you we are lacking depth in the squad.  McGeouch is out injured again, so is Fyvie, again.

Not sure if paperwork is through for our new keeper, Marciano.  Need him in fast, also need to find out about Henderson coming or not from Celtic. We are 2-3 players short at the moment and after we have now sold 10,800 season tickets, the board should get their finger out.

Club announced last night that Hibs have sold 14,000 tickets for the Dunfermline game by last night, that with more walk ups and  apparently a 1,000 Pars fans coming will see us have around 17,000 at the game this Saturday.  Big game, as a decent win will keep most of those fans in tow.

still wont get to see any highlights on the bbc though. they only cover the big games.

Well are certainly creating chances in the last few games so here's hoping. I'm still in a flap  about our finances so a crucial game tonight. It seems to be built into our break even business plan that good cup runs are a must.

Oh and nice to see our  Motherwell and Wishaw MP Marion Fellows joining the Well Society, a big improvement on our former MP Frankie Ra. ..  oops..... I mean Frankie Roy.

I reckon even most 'well fans merely tolerate Mark McGhee.

In fact off that list, I can understand folk not liking most of them!

I'd blocked out Maurice malpas! Gannon was nuts, Kenny Blacks playing CV didn't exactly endear him to the Motherwell fans, Craig Brown left under a cloud...

Barraclough is the least offensive Manager we've had!

Definitely!

The famous "never a better chance"....

When you look at our bench tonight you can see we are a bit light for this one.

Should still be plenty to get the job done though, no excuses!

Light? Ciftci, Armstrong, Christie and Henderson have all been the main men for premier league teams!

Is Mccart any relation to Chris (head of youth at cfc).

Hope it's a good game!

Haha, I see what you mean but other than Armstrong I don't think any of those would be in the squad if everyone was available.

McCart is son of Chris, decent defender by all accounts.

I think it'll be tight, certainly no repeat of the 7-0 ?
