hannibal smith
#obsesssed Some hearts fans may be I certainly am not, I quite like to see hibs do ok and was a bit disappointed to see you stay down. I am certainly not obsessed enough to write letters to foreign governments to try and finish off my rivals or foreign football association to try and get rivals players banned from a competition my club had already been eliminated from. jock strap
Any word from Stubbs/Hibs about this ? Canna believe he has got himself lifted so soon. It's disappointing as I think he has a lot of potential but having that and acting the way he does is crazy.

giblet
He came on for 20 mins yesterday. Stubbs is sticking by him. He had one good run into the box Otherwise a fairly inauspicious start to his Hibee career.

I think most people would have got it and it was a pretty good attempt at being funny, in my opinion.
Pete Gas
How do we stop young Scottish players from pissing away their career? 10 years ago, Derek Riordan and Gary O'Connor were top talents. One of them is a fat junkie now.

LewisEDI
Too much too young. Agents are not blameless here either. i dont buy into that for those two, its more their background social environment, both came from rough areas in edinburgh/east lothian. O'connor had a decent career, played in the premiership and scored the winning goal in the russian cup final and earned a heap of cash but then chucked it down the pan. Riordan didnt want to leave scotland for family reasons, he could have gone to russia as well or to germany or england (cardiff)

We love in a society/culture where binge drinking is not only acceptable but actively encouraged. If you don't drink you're a weirdo. Most of our socialising is done in pubs. It's something that i do believe is slowly changing. We are becoming a healthier nation. I see so many more people out running/cycling/at the gym now, compared to even 10 years ago. It'll take a generation or so to change completely though.

I'm not as active or healthy as I could or should be and as much as I want to change that I always find excuses not to. I'm actively trying to make sure that my kids are more involved in sports in the hope that they stick with it and it become the norm for them to be fit and healthy. You only need to look at any kind of event in Scotland and it's intertwined with alcohol consumption. Weddings and funerals are followed by massive bevvy sessions, birthdays and christenings are the same. I've seen folk complaining that a christenings are on a Sunday as it impacts on their ability to have a bevvy after as it's work on the Monday. Even the draw for the WC qualifiers had folk on here trying to organise get togethers to have a bevvy whilst watching it. Social gatherings and alcohol are almost inseparable in this country. Hopefully as time goes on this will change.

I'm not doing the holier than thou routine. Up until about 18 months ago i was pretty unhealthy. I played football a couple of times a week but my diet was poor and i drank every weekend. Then i just decided i'd had enough of hating how i looked and of being out of breath at football. So i started running, going to the gym and eating smarter. Now i feel (and look ) tremendous. Jacques Hunt
ah mind reading a Barry Ferguson interview years ago when he had just moved to Blackburn. I am a big BF admirer, but he mentioned chip shop about 4 times in this piece. How he was struggling to find a decent one. Remember thinking, chip shop? You should be eating pasta ya c**t! Top players need every edge they can get, every bit of fitness to make a wee bit difference here and there. Then there was booze gate of course.
