  1. It was just after we chucked Burley but George Peat wanted Levein. Iceland have thanked us ever since.
  2. Go! He is judged on whether or not we qualified, not six games. We failed to even get a playoff place in two campaigns, one of them for a tournament that nearly half of Europe qualified for. Whilst I get that we have improved over the last six games, it has come too late after an appalling start to the campaign and his tactics and substitutions in Slovenia were baffling. The genetics deflection tactics were baffling. And I don't buy this "but there's nobody better" pish, what a weak argument! There are plenty of talented coaches/managers out there who could take this side to a major finals by playing players on form and not persisting by names who are on the books of English clubs. The side needs tweaking and introduce fresh blood into the squad. Do we seriously trust that Stubborn Strachan will do that?
  3. Jackie Guardiola must be ruing the day it was made public he profited on player sales in the wake of allowing Armstrong and MacKay-Steven to go to their League Cup Final opponents.
  4. We'll probably play Sweden or Denmark in one of the friendlies.
  5. No doubt there will be at least one friendly in November.
  6. Georgia was, ultimately, the killer but settling for a draw in Dublin against an Ireland team on their knees at that point instead of going for the win has to be looked at too. The fans who celebrated that result like we'd just drawn with the World Champions need to look at themselves too.
  7. I'd prefer Strachan to stay, despite the last four matches think he deserves another chance to put it right for the next campaign and we need stability. However, if he chooses to walk I won't be too upset either, my only worry is we'll go down the route of which Scot wants the job and is a cheap option rather than go for the best man for the job. The sooner we broaden our horizons and think outside the box the better, not every foreign manager is a Berti Vogts, the fact we snubbed Lagerback for Levein still annoys me.
  8. I'll renew my membership but will be picking and choosing my games again, not buying a season ticket.
  9. Forrest and S Fletcher were our best players, didn't think I'd say that! D Fletcher and Whittaker were abysmal.
  10. Germany game, it took us an hour ten mins just to get onto the M74. Last night, parked at the Clutha and walked there. Walk back was 40mins, much quicker!
  11. Griffiths and Rhodes up front, may bring in Johnny Russell too.
  12. Over the last 18 years when we've tried and failed to qualify for a major tournament, the most used and infuriating excuses are "we've had bad luck" and "Ach we're just a wee nation". It's about time we got a reality check and accept we simply haven't been good enough! Relying on luck is definitely a weak argument and Strachan again talked about deflected goals. Yes, some games have seen luck desert us but, overall, you make your own luck and we've not done enough. Poland and Ireland both beat Germany, we lost to Georgia - that's the reason why we have missed out again. This "wee nation" pish can also do one. Iceland have just dispelled that myth completely, as have Northern Ireland. So many nations have developed whilst we've stood still being stuck in our ways. Some parts of the country to be fair are changing their youth structure but that can take years before we see any real progress and other parts still insist on the "tried and tested" methods that only hold back our game. It doesn't matter if you are a country of 5 million, 50 million or 300k, if you have the players and coaching staff you have a chance of qualifying. Another thing we need to lose is this settling for a draw carry on. Scotland fans celebrating a draw in Dublin was embarrassing and the team playing for a point was even worse. To qualify, you need to target victories against your closest rivals first. We can argue all we want that we didn't lose to Poland and Ireland, but we didn't beat Poland either and we lost a game away to a pot five team with the mentality of "we don't need to win" whilst our rivals went there and cleaned up. We need a winning mentality, not "a draw will do" one. Interestingly, the last time Scotland claimed maximum points against the bottom two seeded teams was Euro 96. Tells its own story.
  13. Were they ! They are dangerous and if Poland fans throw one in our support and it hits someone, that person ends up in A&E with multiple burns.

    Flares?

Disgusted at the police and security last night for letting these scumbags in with flares, especially in the FAMILY section. Sheer incompetence! More interestingly, how did so many Poland fans get tickets in our end? We're supposed to have 33,000 Supporters Club members and those lucky enough to get in first had the opportunity to buy two tickets. I know we've bought away tickets in home ends before but not many (if any) nations have a supporters club as big as ours. Anyone who cashed in and sold to these scumbags (the biggest scumbags to visit Hampden) is a disgrace.
  15. There's been a case for Rhodes for the last three years at least and he's not been given a proper chance to stake his claim for a place in the team. People say he can't play on his own - Blackburn only play one up front. There are question marks over his ability to hold up the ball - if he's playing on his own at club level then he must be able to do this too. Above all, he's scoring goals which, no matter what people say about how the game's changed, is still a strikers priority. Don't think he'll start against Poland but, if we don't qualify, we should look to start him for a few friendlies to see for ourselves if he's up to the task of being our main striker.
  16. Shame for the Old Firm that the Premier League don't want them. They voted 20-0 over a decade ago and their TV deal is on another planet now, no incentive for them to vote the Old Firm in now.
  17. Pressley rules himself out the running as still seeking success in England. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34396177 Whilst going down the former player route is an option given the old cliché "they know the club", it's not always advantageous to employ "one of their own" and bringing in someone from outside is more likely to bring in fresh ideas to revamp the club. Not referring only to United, every club seems to get linked with at least one former player when looking for a new manager. Eric Black's been linked with the Aberdeen job for the past 15 years!
  18. Hummels could do all parties a favour in that game
  19. Guy's on fire at the moment, but then we did keep him fairly quiet a year ago so fingers crossed we can do so again.
  20. Can't stick him either after the way he left us after a handful of games but he's been playing well enough to merit talks of a call up.
  21. Shinnie fully deserves his call up, glad Rhodes is back in. Not sure about McDonald, Arfield would've been more deserving imo.
  22. Some good attacking players and at full back, no to sure about how good our centre backs and goalkeepers are mind you.
  23. Hope I'm wrong when I say I don't see us winning the game. 1-1
