What are the odds on the score of the upcoming OF match ? The the Rangers fans have been begging for it for 3 years......

What imaginary Rangers fans are these??? As a season ticket holder I sit around people who have been dreading an OF match, people, including myself, who were happy to get knocked out of cups to avoid having to play them. Not met a single actual real life Rangers fan who wants a Celtic game at the moment.

Much like the majority of Rangers fans want this, or believe this threads on the TAMB, made up and basically shite. But why let the facts get in the way, I'm sure you have hundreds of Rangers fans you know who are dying for an OF game

THE under-fire Rangers board are still actively seeking alternative investment – despite the fact a rescue bid from a Douglas Park-led consortium has been tabled.

The Light Blues’ hierarchy has approached several parties in recent days in a bid to try to raise the money they need to keep the club afloat for the season.

A Park, George Letham and George Taylor consortium has offered £6.5million to snap up the majority of any new shares in exchange for two places on the Ibrox board.

The club’s board have already confirmed they need to bring in money over the next couple of months with it being claimed that £8m is needed to balance the books and see out the year.

Express Sport can reveal that Sale Sharks owner Brian Kennedy has knocked back an approach from the troubled Championship club to put up the money because he didn’t see it as a financially viable proposition.

The club’s directors are also in talks with several other individuals and close sources have refused to dismiss the possibility of the Easdale brothers, Sandy and James, increasing their shareholding or Sports Direct owner and shareholder Mike Ashley providing further crisis loans.

The problem for the Park consortium is that any new shares need to be offered to existing shareholders and if, as expected, many take their options up then it would dilute their power and offer.

The other issue is that, despite offering proof of funding, the consortium could still pull the plug once they see the club accounts – which are believed to be close to meltdown, with some people questioning whether or not they can pay the January wage bill.

Motor tycoon Park has been heavily involved in Rangers in the past but has taken a back seat in recent seasons, while Letham has already put up a loan to help the club out and Taylor holds 3.2 per cent of the current shareholding.

The Rangers board had been hoping to simply raise the money needed by allowing Ashley to increase his share from just under nine per cent to just under 30 per cent but that move was blocked by the Scottish Football Association due to FIFA regulations and the fact he already owns Newcastle United.

Ashley has already provided £3m in loans from Rangers and has seen his former Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias appointed as the Ibrox chief executive role, while he also has an iron grip on the club’s retail arm.

Former director Dave King has also stated he would be willing to plough in £16m for control but as of yet he has still to provide the board with assurances he has the ready cash".

"IAN DURRANT banished from Rangers.

Rangers Legend and former first team coach has been told to stay away from Rangers for two weeks.
Rangers legend Ian Durrant has been pushed further into the cold by the current board – after being banished from Murray Park.
Already demoted to take charge of the under-20s in a reshuffle enforced by directors following Ally McCoist’s departure, the former first-team coach – replaced by close pal Gordon Durie – has been told to stay away from the club completely for two weeks.
The move represents a further dismantling of the backroom structure assembled by McCoist, who is now on gardening leave after giving the board 12 months’ notice of his intention to stand down."

Incredibly we have offers from two parties totaling £22.5m yet it appears that the board will be ignoring this to go with more loans from Ashley, secured against god knows what. You have to ask yourself why? The alternative is administration. Is it possible to put a club into administration despite clear offers of financial support from other parties?

Of course it is possible. Just because money is there dosent mean it has to be taken.

Bizarre.

Why demote him then suspend him?

Why not just pay him off or put him on gardening leave?

Is the new broom sweeping out the old guard 1 by 1?

I'm still confused by Ashley's involvement.

Apart from getting big pay cheques for his pals, he's got the merchandising deal. But the merchandising is small potatoes compared to the money he rakes in from Newcastle.

The money from the English tv deal dwarfs any money he could ever make from Rangers. So what is the motivation?

its could be a relatively low investment to eventually expose his brand to CL football.

There will be no CL football ever or Europe of any kind for RFC or Newcastle while Ashley owns both.

I can see Ashley beating the SFA any day of the week but UEFA & FIFA? Naw too risky.

This is what makes his involvement and long term plan so hard to fathom. RFC are minnows versus Ashley, this is not about a few measly millions... not worth Newcastle being ineligible for Europe should they ever qualify.

Unless he plans on buying Ibrox and the training ground and then renting it out in perpetuity to whoever owns the club and at the same time negotiating lots of advertising and exposure that way - rename the stadium, get a cheap deal on the shirts etc etc... And at the same time not owning the club just the stadium and all the real estate. Sort of like RFC doing a sale and lease back. This would also allow the present board to enrich themselves before the inevitable administration event at which point Ashley holding all the securities collects all the assets on the cheap or for all.

WOW Shocker... Toepoke read the NOTW!!!!! :-)):-))

It errr.... was ma pal's

Would Rangers still be in crisis if Hearts had not been as consistent as they have been and the gap was only a couple of points either way?

It's certainly not helped their case. A lot of people feared the Championship would be a one horse race but the leading horse is not the one they were expecting...
