Clyde1998
Surely Rhodes and McCormack should be placed above Chris Martin in the pecking order for strikers. I feel that both have more about them than Martin does - both can create chances from themselves. Who does everyone think should be the four strikers in the Scotland squad (if everyone is fit)? ProudScot
Obvious tonight Rhodes should have been there. Martin didn't move and did absolutely zero. Rhodes can do that and score sitters!
deso1
Fletcher.... and then search the world for anyone with pace and a whisky or whatever it takes to qualify.
exile
I would like another look at an in form Rhodes, can't remember last time saw him play.
ErsatzThistle
I'd give Jordan Rhodes another go. Just hope he hasn't taken the huff with Strachan. Ross McCormack I'd leave out. The last couple of years he has looked out of his depth at international level. Wait and see if Stevie May comes good at Wednesday. I know he's went of the boil in the last few weeks but he's still young and should be given time. Similarly, Tony Watt needs to start scoring goals over in Belgium but there's still time for him to come good. Don't want the Leigh Griffith's experiment attempted again. tartansmarf
There is clearly an issue between Rhodes and Strachan that's why he isn't getting a look in.

Hope tony watt turns it around, harsh on Griffiths, the lad definitely has talent. As seems to be the way they need to sort out what goes on in their heed! ParisInAKilt
There is clearly an issue between Rhodes and Strachan that's why he isn't getting a look in. I don't think it's that obvious. Rhodes isn't that good that it must be a falling out because Strachan isn't picking him. Maybe he just doesn't rate him?
JECK
Chris Martin was a rabbit caught in the highlights the night, got to have better than that
Bino's
Absolutely, Rhodes has got to be above Martin and some journalist with a set of baws should be asking Strachan why he isn't
gusmac
Dont think rhodes is the answer. We look a far better team with fletcher up front. He just needs to bag a couple.alternatives is the issue....martin looks too slow, as does rhodes. Naismith just seemed so isolated in the 2nd half. PASTA Mick
Russell did himself a favour tonight.

Yup, it's basically Fletcher (even with his lack of goals) and then ???. Naismith on his own doesn't work, not least because it takes him out of his better position. I wanted Chris Martin to be given a chance but he's played himself out of it, unfortunately. Stevie May did better than Martin when he came on, but he'll have to hold down a place at Wednesday. Rhodes is a goalscorer, not a back to goal / technical player which is needed to bring the other forwards into play. Either that or Strachan will have to change the whole system and style if Fletcher is unavailable. PASTA Mick
I think Rhodes will have a role to play against Gibraltar. I know a lot can change between now and then but I'd be looking at the following XI for the next qualifier- Marshall/Gordon Martin Hanley Mulgrew Forrest/Robertson Brown Fletcher/Morrison Maloney/Snograss Naismith Rhodes Fletcher Edited November 18, 2014 by PASTA Mick
TheReid
Johnny Russell, the minute he went on we looked a lot more attacking
Tartan blood
Johnny Russell, the minute he went on we looked a lot more attackingNot really an out and out striker but he has given us yet another attacking option. He looked very comfortable at this level and did well with the assist. Good sub to bring on in games we need an extra spark.I thought May added a bit of fight up front when he came on as well. I would hope he is higher in the pecking order than Martin now. Honestly, I think our best bet is Tony Watt. He started a bit slow for Lierse last year before banging them in. I can certainly see him doing the same this year at Standard Liege. It's probably a good thing that it's so long till the next (challenging) match. By then I think there will be a lot more players forcing their way into the squad. Edited November 18, 2014 by Tartan blood

ParisInAKilt
Didn't see the game tonight but the drop in quality between Fletcher and Martin was evident from the poland and ireland games.
COLT NY
It's a while until the next game so definitely a chance for any strikers that are on the periphery to go on a hot streak and force their way in... Surprised to realise that May's only scored 3 for Wednesday so far. Alongside him I'd be looking to the performances of Rhodes, McCormack, Goodwillie, Watt, and Russell, Between them at least one I'd expect to push for the spot on the bench behind Fletcher and Naismith. BIG GIANT BOY
would have been better off giving Stevie May a run out compared to Martin.
Tartan_Wolf
I defended Martin a few days ago, I regret it now. Would have subbed him at 20 minutes if it wasn't an insult.
er yir macaroon
Russell and Watt are the two that can give us the injection of pace we need. Fletcher was a big miss last night.
Caledonian Craig
I liked what I saw from Johnny Russell and Stevie May and they should now be above Martin in the pecking order.
wanderer
When Russell and May came on it gave us a bit of fight and would be happy to see them start against Gibraltar. Just do not know what it is about Fletcher just now.... I know Strachan puts him there to defend from the front and allow others to feed off his scraps, but you need a striker who will score also, and he just does not look like it. I was prepared to give Martin the benefit of the doubt after Warsaw, but last two games I have just come to the conclusion that he is not good enough for international football. Think we really need to get Rhodes and McCormack a chance next time.
