I realise how independence is , the only interest I have in politics is independence, and agree a sound government is paramount in achieving this. I dont think NS is perfect by a long distance, she is a politician, none of them are perfect , many are shit. But I do rate her and absolutely think she is by far the best we have just now ( AS is not going to happen) . The party have been in power a long time and there is definitely a whiff of ‘getting along ’ rather than ‘dynamic’. I do think AS would be coming across similar difficulties if he was FM of a party who has been in power for as long as the SNP. It is hard to keep ‘fresh‘ and covid has been a very difficult and unusual situation to recover from. Look at the Tories down south. She might only have been doing her job but its how you do it thats important. You may not rate her but the number of people I have spoken to whose opinion of her was raised substantially during that period is quite remarkable. People who really did not like her before. She has to appeal to different people in different ways to gain support . I agree we need to appeal to more centrist / right of centre people but we are generally a left leaning country so you need to walk a bit of a tightrope , you cant be alienating your bread and butter for the minority. A bit like this trans thing that is going on. I personally dont think its a vote winner but recognise everyones voice needs to be heard and I am not sure the changes are anything like as drastic as some media reports are making out. I know you feel angry regarding the O&G situation. You did say you could move to renewables if you wanted therefore your view is not being swayed by your job.
