Caledonian Craig
Why do we all think he will do without Bannan? Don't get me wrong he hasn't played enough first team football for me but that didn't stop WGS playing Hutton for over a year! Not Bannans biggest fan but the way he is used for cross field balls to get Anya in behind defenders has worked well enough a few times. A really good player for us to have in the squad. As I said on another thread in my opinion he was our best player in the first half V Germany and put in a great shift until he ran out of legs. I wouldn't be upset if he started but who do you leave out?
Blantyre_Braveheart
..................... Marshall ......................... .. Hutton .. Martin .. Hanley .. Robertson .. ................ Brown .. D.Fletcher ................. ....... Naismtih .. Morrison .. Anya ............ ...................... S.Fletcher ...................... I can see Bannan starting on the left with Naismith up top and S.Fletcher on the bench
HighlandScot
Gordon Hutton Martin Hanley Robertson Brown Dorrans Morrison Anya Naismith Fletcher Marshall is superb but Gordon is better, though doubt Marshall will be dropped. Based on his last performances for Man U and Scotland I would not play D Fletcher. And Dorrans has to be the form player over Bannan for right midfield - He played last few WBA games there. Dorrans also is dead-ball specialist in absence of Mulgrew and Snodgrass.
Kirk
Steven Flethches has been poor for Sunderland this season except for Saturday past. For me Morrison, McArthur and Dorrans would all start before Brown You're a nutter. If Brown is fit he is first on the team sheet. Outstanding and brings a bite to the midfield. JECK
love the the above "nutter" comment. a thread like this is only going to do one thing. Now what we should always first establish is what team would you like to see and what teamwill the gaffer likely pick.
noctonjock
Dont think so, honestly believe Anya is one of the first names on the team sheet now. you can,t drop our leading goal scorer in this campaign
1320lichtie
Anya and Brown maybe dropped? Yous on drugs? Marshall Hutton Hanley Martin Robertson Brown Fletcher Naismith Morrison Anya Fletch (replace with Martin)
PASTA Mick
Marshall Hutton Hanley Martin Robertson Brown Fletcher Morrison Naismith Anya Fletch That would be my XI. I predict that it will that apart from Bannan will start and S.Fletcher won't. Naismith upfront, Morrison behind.
Brooky
For me, it will be: ---------------- Marshall Hutton - Hanley - Martin - Robertson -------- Brown - D. Fletcher Dorrans ------------------------------ Anya --------- Naismith ------------------- S. Fletcher This is what I'd like to see as starting line up. If Snoddy was fit he'd be in where you have Dorrans. As for Strachans selection I think it will be close to above but Right midfield is up for debate. I think it's more likely to be Morrison or Bannan in that position..... Strachan seems to always squeeze Bannan into the team so I would say Bannan at right of 3 behind Fletcher is most likely what we will see. Am I one of the only people who seems to think Bannan rarely brings much to the side? Sure he can pass it 5-10 yards and is good for ball retention but most of our midfield players can do that. He also is very guilty of failing to beat the first defender when crossing, taking a corner or free kick. Yet to be convinced.

Yes, all players can pass the ball 5-10 yards, but not all of them can pass it to a team mate while being closed down by two of the opposition. That's why Bannan gets a game. Simple as that. Bannannan
Morrison ,if he plays, must be in forward midfield, because he can't defend.Brown and Fletcher must form the holding midfield.
tartanlad
Pretty certain this will be the side:- Marshall Hutton Hanley Martin Robertson Brown Fletcher Morrison Anya Naismith Fletcher Think it will be this.
Geed
Marshall Hutton Hanley Martin Robertson Brown McArthur Morrison Anya Naismith Fletcher Suspect McArthur play on saturday and keep Darren Fletcher fresh for Poland away as 2 games in 4 days be alot for him
Davied14
Morrison ,if he plays, must be in forward midfield, because he can't defend.Brown and Fletcher must form the holding midfield. Morrison played a deeper role in both wins over Croatia, at Wembley and against Poland in March.
Parklife
Strachan is not going to drop Morrison, and suspect he will have Morrison, Fletcher and Brown in the middle, wiith Naismith and Ayna wide and Steven Fletcher up front. I think Morrison will play but wide right. I don't think it'd be wise to move Naismith (our most effective player recently) in to a role where he'll be less involved. ErsatzThistle
Moyes played Naismith out wide for Everton where he became the fans favourite whipping boy. Martinez began playing him up top or directly behind the striker and he became a totally different player. Don't see Naismith being effective on the wing for us at all. He's got to start up front. Would love to see Strachan combine Naismith and Steven Fletcher together.

ErsatzThistle
He played his best football at Rangers from a wide right position. As much as I hate giving the Premier League any credit, Naismith is up against much tougher opposition now than he was at Rangers. When Moyes had him constantly out wide for Everton he struggled. Pool Q
Marshall; Hutton, Martin, Hanley, Robertson; Brown, D. Fletcher; Morrison, Naismith, Anya; S. Fletcher. The best I saw Naismith play for Rangers were in European games when he played behind the front man, and I think that's where Strachan will use him on Saturday. I've no doubt that Darren Fletcher will play, but purely on form he would probably be replaced by McArthur.
Bzzzz
I want to see Martin involved up top at some point though, think he is a superb striker. Is he? Heard he's been putting a few away, how good?
