Agree with this, a completely over the top reaction coupled with a high level of ignorance from macy and mox. There's nothing wrong with rugby and what's been said about footballers is true. They have become overpaid fannies, particularly in the super rich leagues.

Nice to see you enjoy this drivel about rugby players giving more for the jersey than footballers and the classic rugby fan rebuttal about footballers wages. Next you'll be telling us that footballers should be more like olympians and that it's a disgrace they get paid more than nurses, doctors and soldiers. As for your final point, I don't affiliate or socialise with anyone who is interested rugby and if I did I certainly wouldn't pay money to attend a rugby game, tell them what I thought of them and then get chucked out, it would be a complete waste of time when I could watching my local football team. Your whats wrong with scottish football , happy to be the 5th best player, why not try to be the best player !!!!

I don't actually mind the egg chasing. Went to Murrayfield once when we got skelped off New Zealand. Had a really good day out, just didn't really get into it as a sport but I still quite enjoy watching Scotland on the telly. Planning to meet people for the England game in the pub. Think it's 4 pm on a Saturday afternoon so perfect timing for a few beers then an early curry
ShedTA
People on here slagging rugby off as a game is laughable. It's a far more, intelligent, complicated and tactical game than football with much more honesty and respect for all involved. Can understand people prefer football - that's a personal choice but to slate rugby as a game says more about them than anything else. Since it appears to be the boards resident halfwits that are being so vehement about their hatred of rugby, perhaps it shows that they are just not bright enough to understand the rules? Adam, keep watching as the rules aren't actually that complicated other than those around the scrum. They change them every 5 minutes to make sure you're concentrating apparently. ? Really enjoy the Scotland games but only managed to attend a couple. Far more family oriented atmosphere than the football internationals and you get treated like an adult. I wonder if the attitude towards football fans comes from some of the halfwits that go to games and their lack of tolerance towards everything that isn't them? ? Jersey Jim
With regards to Rugger, I went to one of the biggest secondary schools in Paisley ( which at the time was the biggest town in Scotland ), strange that we never ever had rugby at PE, only school that played rugby was Paisley Grammer which was regarded as elitist, me and all my mates always thought of Rugby as a rich kids sport. Was this representative of Scotland as a whole? ( talking late 70"s, early 80"s) Edited February 26, 2017 by Jersey Jim

Was this representative of Scotland as a whole? ( talking late 70"s, early 80"s) Aye, I think it was a legacy of the old grammar school system. I went to Killie Academy and it was the same as Paisley Grammar, emphasis put on rugby, if you played that it was a guaranteed A for PE on your report card. All the other ex grammar schools in the area were the same e.g. Ayr Academy, Irvine Royal, Marr College in Troon... PS - Paisley still is Scotland's biggest town Edited February 26, 2017 by Toepoke
OLAS
Was also forced to play rugby in school. Still refute it was a forward pass when I burst clear and 'scored' my only try. Got manky for nothing and with the playground talk about the PE teachers, you didn't want to be in the shower for long... That said, we had some professional footballers come through. David Moyes and Kieran Mcanespie off the top of my head.

If your school was like mine the PE teachers had no interest in giving you fitba, you got rugby and hockey in the autumn, basketball / volleyball and gymnastics in the winter, then athletics and cricket when you went back outside in the spring. On the odd occasion when there was a staff shortage you got chucked out the back to kick a ball about. I think we had an A, B and C rugby team in our year. The fitba team was taken by non PE teachers and they ironically did pretty well, a few of them went on to play semi professionally, but I don't think anyone from the rugby teams progressed in the sport... Football will always remain our 'national' sport, but that doesn't mean who shouldn't celebrate success in or encourage other sports. I was being sarcastic, I'd say in the glasgow area it is for the private schools though. My high school had rugby goals for a while but never used them and replaced them with football goals. 9 minutes ago, adamntg said: Yay! Homophobia is back! macy37
I'm interested to know what the actual participation numbers are for egg chasing. The fact there is no European Championship is odd is it not? Surely the repetition of the Six Nations gets exactly that, repetitive?
Donaldo87
Rugby does still have all these stigmas attached to it but its definitely improving. Far better sport at the moment and from a distance it actually looks like the people running it know what they are doing. The scrums are brutal right enough though
