Aye, and with (partial) responsibility for social security it's going to be an even more challenging role this time. I see Angela Constance got the gig. A pretty good choice, I reckon. Can't say I've been at all impressed with what I've seen from Constance. I thought she was brought in to make up the numbers of the 50/50 male/female cabinet by Salmond and would've hoped that there were more capable MSP's judging by some of her performance since her introduction. Agree, Constance is Sturgeons best mate. Think she is very much overrated.
giblet
In my opinion, the best two SNP politicians of this next era are both not sitting in parliament. Both were elected in the early Parliaments but both left before SNP gained office. If there was a way to entice them back into public office, it would serve Scotland and the YES cause extremely well.. Andrew Wilson is now working for his own PR firm and Duncan Hamilton is now an Advocate. Here is Hamilton crushing Unionists in a Glasgow University debate. The person I feel sorriest of all for is their daughter (I think it's a daughter they have).

Ally Bongo
Id be disappointed if that once the dust settles Sturgeon doesnt set an example As well as being deputy SNP leader and deputy Parliamentary group leader Hosie was supposed to be in charge of this summer's drive on Indy 2. Whether she will demote him from any of the first two is debatable with the ramifications it would entail however cannot see how she will now allow him to do the latter Personally i think he should be booted from all

He is clearly a babe magnet and he might draw more women to the independence movement?
neilser
An unnamed 'source' is quoted in one of the papers as saying 'These two have behaved with all the decorum of a coach party in a Carry On film arriving at a pub'. I though that was quite good, though probably made up by the journalist.

As an efficianado I dont know which Carry On film the source has been watching They arrive at the pub, all have one drink and get back on the coach and go to another pub - then repeat. There was no toilet on the bus so im assuming at the pub the source is referring to would have seen a big rush to the toilets and no more A poor analogy imo
buckielugger
Shona is certainly very very lovely in every way and I hope she is alright. I like Angela Constance too. Deputy Leader is elected by the membership, deputy leader at Westminster is elected by the MPS there - and he along with the rest of the leadership group were re-elected on Tuesday night after the story broke. Finally, on the Indy2 front, I'd be surprised if this wasn't known about before he was announced in that role. i doubt he'll be removed from any role, of course he could stand down if it's felt the publicity from this is getting in the way but I suspect this will be yesterday's news pretty quickly. If there's anything more to this, then the Sunday's will have kept something back, if not then it'll die out pretty quickly.
Dillinger
I agree the SNP ought to be mindful of stuff like this purely for popularity reasons, but for me personally I couldn't give a flying. And not just because I like the SNP. I find pathetic stuff like this the absolute worst bit of politics. Who cares who had sex with who? This stuff shouldn't be use as ammunition, it should be irrelevant. It's all a distraction from the bigger stories - like when the culture secretary was getting it rough for having sex with a hooker he met on Match (who cares?!) in the same week David Cameron was revealed to have benefited from his father's tax evasion. Ally Bongo
I agree however Hosie's position makes it a bit different He is Deputy SNP leader and was supposed to be showing the ropes and setting an example for the new MPs at Westminster It's all about respect and i dare say he has lost quite a bit It might take time but id wager Sturgeon will want changes
Orraloon
I thought it was a bit rich when Dodgy Dave was having a go at them in the HoC yesterday. The story with Whittingdale was really about *why* the newspapers weren't printing the story. I agree with you that a single man having a relationship with a single woman is of no interest, the key thing though was given that it's not stopped the press reporting similar relationships why not report that one especially as once it broke, they were all over it. thplinth
I would sack Hosie if possible. Not for having an affair and being morally outraged at it but for doing it when his wife was also a member of the cabinet. He has totally fecked the 'team' and I can't imagine them all having to sit around the table and act professionally now. Considering he is deputy leader that makes it all the more jarring. The women he cheated with is also an arseholle IMHO. So overall shocking decision making from Hosie and I say get him to feck. (And I backed him at the time to get the job.) edit: saw this also... A FORMER SNP social work committee convenor was at the centre of a blackmail plot after it was revealed his wife was a £100-an-hour escort. Keith Robertson, 60, who formerly served on Perth and Kinross Council and his wife Jean, 57, faced demands for £4000 from Alan Hurren who also wanted "sexual favours" to keep the vice job quiet. http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/14501783.SNP_council_veteran_victim_of_blackmail_plot_after_wife_is_exposed_as_an_escort/ Now what has shocked me here is who the hell is paying a 57 year old burd 100 quid an hour fro sex. People don't care who's bonking who, they're just happy to read about it. As an SNP member though, I'm finding this frustrating. I want to see headlines about policies and plans, not love-triangles or dodgy expenses. Hard to believe that Hosie, as deputy leader, got caught up with some obvious slag. There's no fool like an old fool. "Caught up with some obvious slag" how very 19th century.
