I'm struggling to see what part of signing Fletcher would be great.

Answers on a post card please.

I agree. His wages won't be cheap. He is injured, a lot. He doesn't score many goals.

On the positive side his link up play is good.

Oh and he rarely stands out against a decent defense.

Just my opinion but I hope Celtic sign him. ?

Admire the ambition but I only see 3 as achievable.

Europa League in consecutive seasons? You didn't make it last year or did you? Don't think you did? Without checking is that a wish to do it next year then again the following one?

Europa League group participation would be the most difficult of the 3 suggestions. That said if it was achieved once the additional finance and co-efficient points would see us seeded in later qualifying rounds giving an improved chance of repeating.

Don't see why pushing on past March in the league is seen as unachievable - if Aberdeen & Hearts maintain or slightly improve their levels and Rangers come into the 4 equation then there are addtional opportunities for teams to drop points and squeeze things up a bit.

I agree with your last paragraph however it does depend on Celtic's ambition.

They supposedly have a massive war chest, so if they buy even reasonably well they should walk the league next season.

I think if Aberdeen and Hearts can maintain their levels it will be a decent fight for second.

Celtic have won the league with just 3 games to go in the last 2 seasons. Yet you don't see Aberdeen kicking on and making that closer as "achievable"?

I think that's based only on your own bias.

P&J linking the Dons with Craig Slater.

Killie and Hibs players ? Hardly the players to take us to the next level, unless the next level is relegation.

Completely agree. We're apparently also looking at Calum Morris from Utd?!

On the McLean comment - I would suggest it strengthens this point rather than countering it.

I don't understand the McLean love either. What is his purpose? He plays behind the central striker yet scored 4 goals from open play in the League this season (a goal every 838 minutes) and had only 5 assists (1 every 637 minutes).

But aye, he has a good first touch and can play neat passes in front of the defence that achieve feck all ...

Motherwell sign lumbering, 33 year old, occasionally interested, OG specialist McManus on a 2 year deal.

Yay!

(I actually like the guy, but so frustrating that he can't find the level he is capable of more often, and the sight of him running backwards was giving me the fear in his Celtic days.)

Maybe a decent defender but only fit 25% of the time.   Hard to tell.

Edit : if you do sign him, play him left back.  He's really really brilliant there. ?

What was unreal during his days at Celtic was the amount of times he cost them goals by trying to pass the ball out from defence. He was so hopeless at it it was unreal. A simple six yard pass and he almost always would end up giving it to the opposition.

Strangely though he played really well for Scotland when Davie Weir was his partner in central defence.

McManus is a really nice guy off the park though I'm told. Big Scotland fan too.

The last two seasons we have won the league with ease despite us having a poor squad and manager. Lets not tell lies and claim it was a tightly ran race.

No one linked with utd that I have seen yet. Maybe McKinnon thinks what he has can do the trick. :o

Somebody on Howling Mad claims he saw McKinnon talking to Stewart Murdoch from Ross County and his agent.

Murdoch? Can't say I know what he's like. Any good? Why would he drop a division though?

I've only posted facts, it is you who's putting the spin on them. Celtic have won the league with 3 games to go in each of the last 2 seasons. :ok:
