RenfrewBlue
Initial turnout figures are up on the 2011 election. Only a few constituencies have reported these figures but it sounds positive.
iainmac1
What's wrong with the Northern Isles...after the Carmichael shenanigans I thought there might be a shift there but no.
Marky
That Orkney reporter was class. More of him please. And Jackie Bird just said "the biggest turnout for a Holyrood erection was 58% in 1999." Must've been some erection.

Lib Dems have apparently been concentrating on local issues. They obviously know what works for them.

iainmac1
There was only 860 votes in it in Orkney in 2011. Lib Dems won by 4,534 votes with almost 70% of vote. wtf
kumnio
How does Orkney work, what goes on up there. An massive increase for Lib Dems, very strange. Aw FFS, Nicol Stephen is on TV, this isnt going to end well.

HIGHTOWER 1314
I dont know about anyone else in where they stay but all i have seen in kirkcaldy on polling day was snp everywhere. At the polling stations, around the town in fact everywhere. The other parties have been very conspicuous by their absence its almost like they have given up or showing very little interest to get out and meet the people. Auld_Reekie
Apparently an independent stood last time and came second, and didnt run this year. And roughly all their votes went to LibDems. Either way, hopefully signals end of the Carmichael hysteria. While I understand the principle, Im not sure moralising about the islanders is really going down all that well up there. Stinky Tam
Couple of factors in Orkney. Liam McArthur is very well thought of here and seen as a very good MSP. The SNP candidate isn't exactly seen as the warmest, most approachable person. A lot of people here vote for the person rather than the party too. Having said that, I am really surprised at that result - all the indications were that it would be fairly close.
biffer
Labour vote down 11% in Rutherglen. SNP gain.
McDange
Orkney surprising to see such a swing. Tories and Labour losing their deposits though. Tactical voting perhaps at play? Northern Isles LibDem stronghold remains it's seems

weekevie04
No point in trying to make any logic from Orkney (nor Shetland) about Lib Dem vote. Kevin McKenna making some good points about Labour, Scunnered and whoever else on here is a Labour voter.

ZoltanBuchan
Labour guy giving Corbyn a barrage of abuse now! Presume he's a Blairite #####, but it's still astonishing to see the Labour Party openly destroying itself live on national telly? Edit: I see the swear filter is back ?
