Robroysboy
Yes very high demand. A lot of the top countries want to play us. Think there is a rule that a qualified team can only play one other quailified team in a warm up for the euros. Also as all other home nations have qualified ( except us ) that by default makes us highly sought opposition for a warm up game.

Qualified teams can only play a maximum of 1 other qualified team. With most teams looking to play at least 2 or 3 games it means the better of the teams who never qualified like the Netherlands, Norway, Serbia, BiH, Denmark and Scotland will be highly sought after. As you say we are the only country from the UK and Ireland not to qualify so that adds even more to the appeal to play us. The Belgium manager was desperate to play is but the Belgium FA were not prepared to pay our asking fee. It was the Belgium manager who first said that Scotland was one of the most sought after counties to play. wanderer
Bosnia, Bulgaria and Denmark all confirmed today that they are heading out to Japan to take part in this years Kirin Cup at the start of June, so that leaves us, along with the Netherlands, as one of the only "top" nations who did not qualify for the Euros left in European that can play as many Euro qualified nations as we wish. I hope there's a 3rd place play off. Can just imagine us going and getting pumped in a semi and only getting one game instead of two Good to see the tournament back though. I'd love to go back. Bosnia also play Spain in Switzerland the same weekend as rumoured Italy game. Edited January 22, 2016 by McToot

The Dutch already have 2 confirmed games (v Ireland and Poland, there is Norway too (again have 2 confirmed games v Iceland and Belgium), you could add Greece (rumored to be playing Germany) and Serbia as the top teams who never qualified. I imagine it will be the winners v each other and the losers v each other.

MikeyGC
Suppose it can only be a positive thing that other teams are after us for a friendly? Or is it just because the teams after us have either ROI, Northern Ireland, Wales or England in their group and think we have a similar playing style? Or is it just because the teams after us have either ROI, Northern Ireland, Wales or England in their group and think we have a similar playing style? I guess it's a bit of both. There was a rule that only allowed qualified teams to play a maximum of one other quailified team in May/June (this was changed to 2 games v qualified teams last week). With most teams wanting to play at least 2 or 3 pre tournament games then the better of the non qualified teams Norway (now have 3 games confirmed for May/June v Iceland, Belgium and Portugal), Bosnia and Herzegovina (playing Spain and in the Kirin Cup), Denmark (in the Kirin Cup, Bulgaria (in the Kirin Cup), the Netherlands (playing Ireland and Poland), Serbia and Scotland were always going to be popular friendly opponents. Mazziessc
Don't think they will announce anything until they have all the games they want to play tied up. Nonsense on their part, whats up with saying game v france (or whoever) is announced on date **** and we are looking at the prospect of other games. Instead they hold off for a super dooper fandabydoozy glamour announcement while the rest of us watch the prices creep up...

Because people will not bother looking at the fine print which will clearly state a 2nd game is planned and book up for France alone without a 2nd thought. Granted, that is tough luck on their part and not the SFA fault, but will look better for the SFA to announce 2 big games at the same time, rather than announce 1 and say something else is planned, then announce something else as appealing a week later after everyone and their mothers book up for France. But the SFA don't need to put any other potential games in "fine print". They could say that there are possible games against X, Y and Z, which will be announced when confirmed. Not rocket science (well maybe it is to the SFA ! ) Edited January 27, 2016 by jailender

Not rocket science (well maybe it is to the SFA ! ) They've already said they want to play 3 games. What difference does it make who the opposition is (or isn't) until it's confirmed. At which point they'll send out an email. It's not rocket science.

Not rocket science (well maybe it is to the SFA ! ) They don't, but they don't need to send out two emails to confirm both games, when its clear that talks are taking place in the background and both games are (hopefully) close to being agreed on. End of the day, these games are 5 months away (Czech Republic and Denmark were announced in a tighter time frame)
