EddardStark
Trying to work out holidays and stuff and can't find any dates or structure for the playoffs in May. Anyone any idea of dates and the format, figure they might be worth watching this season!! TT The structure is position 3 and 4 play off over two games . The winner then plays position 2 over two games and finally they play second from bottom of the of top flight over 2 games. Same for the other leagues. Not sure about the dates but its normally the first weekend after the final league game. So the first games could be 9/10th May then the return midweek. dandydunn
The dates haven't been announced because there is potential for hibs/falkirk/qots to be involved in the scottish cup final,so they couldn't have a playoff after the final premiership game of the season. And the championship finishes 3 weeks before the premiership,so they may not be until June. In sure I read that somewhere, but feel free to correct me. Edit: last premiership weekend is 23/24 May. Come on Eddard, they'll be waiting till it's confirmed Rangers haven't won the league before they announce restructuring to guarantee we're in the top league next year. They can't live without us! Oh aye, we will be left with nothing to play for but 5th/6th by the end of March. At least we try some of the even younger boys and be ready for next season where we can dream of what might be until we sell the crown jewels in January again. wembley67lisbon
The spfl playoff is different that other leagues. In league one and championship playoffs it's 9th v 4th and 2nd v 3rd then a two legged final. For some reason the club finishing 11th in top league only has to play the one two legged tie. stocky
For some reason the club finishing 11th in top league only has to play the one two legged tie. Was to ensure the 11th SPL club had the best chance of staying up.. nowt to do with fairness, all to do with self preservation.
Shotts56
Isn't it ironic that three of the clubs who voted in that silly rule are the ones who are now disadvantaged because of it ? I love karma.
Scotty CTA
For some reason the club finishing 11th in top league only has to play the one two legged tie. I like it. 11th plays only 2 games because of the status they have earned playing in the top League all year. (If they are 'Hibs' poor then they'll go down anyway.) If 3rd or 4th wants to come up then they'll have to do it over 6 games, but if 2nd wants promotion then they'll have to do it over only 4 games. The higher you finish, the less games you would be required to play. That's the reward. It's a play-off based on League and position (and not a tournament where the teams all start on equal points). sbcmfc
Totally agree. If you do well you get rewarded. Essence of sport basically. There's a possibility tha Hibs could beat Eanfers 4 times in the league, then lose to them in the play offs! That would be pretty cruel! Can't see it on current form, but the boy Vuckic looks decent, if the other Newcastle players get in the team and make a similar impression...... True, but you have to beat more than Rangers to do well. After all nearly everybody beats us.Vuckic looks the part. Hopefully the other boys can have the same impact. Murdoch has made a good impression too, showing why we should have played the youngsters before now.
GRBear
Imagine that scenario Hibees beat us 4 times at Ibrox then we beat them in the play-offs... Not gonna happen but I'd fecking love it!!

I've seen nothing from Vukic yet that shows he's any better than what we already have. And that's saying something.
