Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving - which we don't celebrate. Simple marketing by big chains to get a busy day of shopping in. Another part of American culture we should be resisting before Thanksgiving it's crept into Canada ; increasing every year - but not the huge bargains to be got in the US - yes ; genuine bargains though - not 20% off cack at Asda i know at least 3 folk who are driving down (5 hr each way - weekend hotel) to get stuff - lot of folk it's an annual pilgrimage $500 dyson heater here ; $300 in US etc - petrol is 99$ litre today , less in US - so folk load upon kids/family xmas stuff check out youtube for rammys in shops - we are getting close to the self induced zombie apocalpyse Walmart tends to attract the bottom feeders was security guard died when trampled in opening in NY few years back Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thats exactly what I call it, Dundee was a Fuquing nightmare on the night on the Friday before Xmas - I stay in Melbourne but was telling them all about it at work. I've never seen so much people that can't handle a drink, fights, assholes, ladies bitching, bitch fights, agression, I used to be a City Centre guy so the "toon" pubs were all your locals. Black Friday was just beyond comprehension, never really understand how people can be so nasty to each other, so I was happy to stay at home with a cold beer, the log fire on, the Christmas tree and decs, and leave them to it.
