General Election 2019

SNP vote up by just under 5000 in Rutherglen, Labour vote held up, only 500 down.

On this basis, looks like get out the vote is working for the SNP.

Really pleased for Margaret Ferrier, she's worked like a Trojan for the last two years.  I think she's probably campaigned in every council by-election across the country.

Yes I seem to remember that Labour didn't have much increase to take seat but was more a SNP slump.

Neil Findlay showing exactly the type of blind SNP hatred that has finished the Labour Party in Scotland.

Raging at Shirley Anne Somerville that the SNP campaign stated ‘Stop Brexit’ and ‘Lock Boris out’ and they haven’t achieved either of those things.

Comedy gold.

While he is factually correct he conveniently ignores that Labour could have won 59 seats in Scotland and still got nowhere near.

As usual, taking aim at the wrong target for an enemy.

He's probably had a few.

It's interesting how his "pure dead raging" tweets about the "Natz" usually come after the pubs shut .......

Agreed.

At least the SNP have some sort of vision, whether you agree with it or not.

Labour, and especially Scottish labour are completely lost. Keep telling voters to take it or leave it and they’ll vote elsewhere.

Losing seats in Wales as well.

It's actually more complicated.  In 2015, the SNP got 30000, Labour 20000 and the Tories 5000.

In 2017 Labour's vote dropped slightly to 19000 but the SNP crashed down to 18000 and the Tories were up to 9000.

Turnout in 2015 was 57000, in 2017 it was down to 50000.    I think what happened in 2015 was that a number of former Labour voters probably voted for the SNP for reasons connected to the referendum.

In 2017, a big chunk of the SNP didn't turn out for various reasons, they probably lost a lot of 2015 votes from the former Labour voters back to Labour but Labour lost more of their hardline Unionist vote to the Tories.  So on the surface it looks like Labour's vote held up but in reality there was a fair bit of switching.

This time it looks like Labour and the Tories vote is down a little but the main thing - and turnout was up to 53000 - is that the SNP got the vote back out.

if that's a trend across the country then it'll be a good night for the SNP.
