kmcca5
McGregor out for up to six weeks 2 October 2014 Updated 16:18 Allan McGregor joined Hull City from Turkish side Besiktas in July 2013 Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor has been ruled out for four to six weeks with a shoulder injury. The Scotland international, 32, has been troubled for several weeks and has now been prescribed a period of rest, although surgery is not required. Hull boss Steve Bruce will likely turn to Steve Harper to deputise, starting this weekend against Crystal Palace. The injury also rules McGregor out of Scotland's Euro 2016 qualifiers against Georgia and Poland later this month. McGregor has not missed a minute of league football this season, conceding 11 times in six games. "The specialist has said he needs to rest and stop diving on it," Bruce said. "If you've got a sore shoulder and he's diving on it every day we need to take him out and make sure he recovers. "Hopefully in four to six weeks he'll be back to normal. We're just delighted he doesn't need an operation. We first thought it might need on
scottincarlisle
I was surprised Marshall started in Dortmund but would assume Strachan would have stuck with him for the next 2 games. Seems likely now.
Hertsscot
Shagger seems to be a bit unlucky on the old injury front, at least we've got decent options.
kmcca5
Perhaps Strachan knew about the injury when they were training for the Germany game (Sounds like it has been an issue for a while) and it tipped the balance on who he was going to play. He may not have wanted to risk McGregor and also didn’t want to piss Hull off by playing him and him picking up an injury on international duty. kmcca5
Just what I thought. If you had two keepers of similar standard to choose from but you knew that one of them had a niggling injury I know what I would do?
runningtings
Agreed, and watching McGregor on MOTD recently he clearly hasn't been himself though, so it was probably an easier decision than it seemed.

PASTA Mick
As far as I can see, we are just missing McGregor (who we have better players as cover), Snodgrass and Forrest missing through injury. It's been a while since we've had so few players missing.
Gala Tartan Army (Borders)
Squad probably not all meeting up until tonight so won't know injuries til then or tomorrow morning.

It's been a while since we've had so few players missing. It is a bit of nuisance that 2 of those injuries are right mids. And arguably the 2 best for that position. Callum McGregor, a RM, is also injured. But he wouldn't have played. But, as others have mentioned, we have a plethora of quality attacking mids to fill that gap. wanderer
It's been a while since we've had so few players missing. This seems to be something that is becoming far more less and less under Strachan, which is a good thing Even the friendlies are not as bad as they used to be and think any call off's these days are more than likely legitimate
Eastiebeastie
He's also pish. He ain''t outstanding I agree, but very good in centre mid in Spokje / decent at left back v Croatia with assist for opening goal and scored a 15 yard back heel v Nigeria. I know exactly where the p1sh is coming from and it aint Mulgrew. Edited October 7, 2014 by Eastiebeastie

PASTA Mick
Is it? Looks like a one-trick pony to me... If that trick is showing up full-backs before creating/scoring goals, you might be right. Edited October 8, 2014 by PASTA Mick
Marky
If that trick is showing up full-backs before creating/scoring goals, you might be right. Do you ever consider that when you're pretty much the only person that thinks something, you might be wrong? I'd warrant that if JF didn't play for Celtic, you wouldn't have such a high opinion of him. To say he is sh1te is clearly just stupid, but in my opinion he is no better than average and I would lose absolutely zero sleep if he never featured again in a Scotland squad. I remember being on the only one on here that rated Hanley higher than Wilson. Now everyone does. I was only 1 of a handful that rated Morrison, now almost everyone would have him starting in most games. I was one of very few that rated Maloney yet he became an important player under Strachan. I was one of the few that always preferred Marshall to McGregor but it looks like I'm being proven right on that too. So no, it doesn't bother me arguing against the majority. Forrest, if he can stay fit for a substantial period of time will become a key player for us. He's more talented than Anya and would offer us a better threat on the right than Anya does on the left. He has so much pace and that is such a big part of international football, and something we don't have too much of. Sure, I get it wrong sometimes but, lets be honest, it's not very often. ParisInAKilt
Anya has been far more effective for us than Forrest. Granted he's had his injury problems but just don't see him as an international quality player. Would love to be proved wrong and he has time on his side.
