On balance, I think it would be a good thing. It'd probably level the league a little and of course give more Scottish players consistent game time. You could argue that they wouldn't be getting to play alongside as much premium talent, but it's hardly like the overseas players we have in the SPFL Prem (barring the odd dembele) are particularly amazing anyway.

3 foreigner rule would be a massive backwards step. How many teams could put a team out next weekend?

Another version of it might be a good idea but unless we improve the deal we get from TV, any half decent player would still move south after a handful of good games.

Hold! Hold!

Don't switch off just yet.

Leaving the EU would allow the Scottish FA to re-introduce the 3 foreigner rule.

Good thing for the national team?

undoubtedly a good thing

they will never do it thought

clubs would threaten full breakaway

Won't happen because the old firm won't want it to.

To be fair, it's not just the old firm, Motherwell used less Scottish players than Rangers yesterday, both started with 4 on the park.

Would imagine Hearts v Celtic will be similar.

most Scottish teams don't play Scottish players

despite that the foreigners they've decided to put in are rank average journeymen at best

despite that when the model was 11 Scotsmen and sell your best on to down south or OF, the clubs were in better financial positions and got further in Europe when qualified

whenever anyone asks why don't give youngsters a chance anymore, which isn't often

usually batted away saying obviously aren't good enough

it's all very baffling

introduction of foreigner rule would go long way to curing the game

Might be a problem if we then rejoin the EU as an independent Scotland.

That is not going to happen because it would be daft to join the eu after escsping from its corruption.  Also wouldnt want that failing currency anywhere near these shores.

I would imagine we would see a mass influx of english lower league players instead

Depends on how we defined 'foreigner'. If the point was to improve Scottish players, it'd be silly to class English players as non-foreigners.

Wouldn't make any difference. The second best team in Scotland is full of Scottish players yet none are near the national team.

4 from 11

as many Irishmen in the team as scots

Celtic started with Gordon, Tierney, McGregor, Forrest, Brown and Armstrong today.

GMS came on as a sub and Griffiths would have started if he was fit.

as Rangers progress, this will quickly dissapate back to norm of barely a Scot in sight

The Scottish market is fairly cheap so maybe not.

I do know that some of our key players are Scottish. Gordon, Tierney, Brown, Armstrong and Forrest are some of the first names on the teamsheet. McGregor has played 36 times this season. Griffiths is only kept out by a much better than expected Dembele.

There aren't too many Scottish players that would improve our team. I've no idea whether we could afford or attract those that would, if we were even interested.

It is likely that if we spend and look to improve it is likely there will be less Scottish players in the first XI. Equally, as we sell our best players gaps may be filled by the likes of Henderson, Christie and some of the good young players at the club.
