Part of the reason for Corbyn's success so far is that he isn't in the Cameron-Clegg-Milliband -Osborne mold that folk have come to expect and mistrust about our political leaders.

Because he came through the old school route of union rep then local councillor before becoming an MP it means he didn't study Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford, he never worked as a Special Advisor and because he's never held a New Labour cabinet or shadow cabinet post he hasn't been diluted by the party's spin doctors.

Was that a drawing of a spurting cock over Bragg's left shoulder?

Looked like an old microphone

Funnily enough - I was told by someone last night that Labour figures were saying that Tories had infiltrated them to select Corbyn.

The New Labour Blairites in the party must be frantically scurrying around at the moment unable to understand what's happening or who to blame.

Thats actually mental & they have well and truly lost it

Why would SNP members or non SNP Nationalists deliberately vote in someone who could actually make Labour more popular in Scotland and take votes away from the only party fighting for Independence ?

Bonkers

He is far & away the only candidate who is really setting his stall out to fight the Tories rather than just occupy their territory, but sadly I think intelligent left wingers tend to get destroyed by the media. I know there isn't much sympathy on here but the party really has to decide now if it wants to try & change people's minds & win the big arguments or just move to where people's minds are.

Wise words from page 1.

So, my wife gets a vote through her union. Who should she vote for, from the perspective of helping the Scottish independence movement by weakening Labour?

Corbyn - could destroy Labour in England and keep them out of power for a generation, but may re-invigorate the party in Scotland.

Burnham - most likely of the other three to win, won't be particularly well received in Scotland (an establishment figure)

Cooper - same as Burnham, but less likely to win

Kendall - Tory in all but party. Would be the final nail in 'Scottish' Labour's coffin. But won't win.

My feeling is she should vote for Burnham. Any views?

If that post is genuine... And I fear it is, you're absolutely everything that's wrong with politics in Scotland. Have a word with yourself.

He nails it again. I liked this:

'I honestly dont think that Corbyn would make a good leader but only because he would quickly take his own life in a highly unconvincing manner on a long country walk, an inquiry taking 15 years to report that he had kicked himself to death.'

Perhaps because they value other things more than independence?

I voted SNP and I've joined so I can vote for Corbyn, still can't see him winning but he's pretty much everything I want in a politician.

He's pretty much everything I don't want in a politician. Although to be fair he does at least appear to be true to his convictions. Edited by Charlie Endell

I want independence, what I don't want is independence via a scorched earth policy enacted by a Conservative Government and with a complicit Labour Party. I don't particularly want us to get independence after we (and the rest of the UK) have our public assets stripped, our NHS privatised, our welfare state destroyed and a generation of young people thrown to the dogs.

The SSP, SLP and Greens are more committed to independence than the SNP at this exact moment in time, as are Solidarity (scum). The SLP, SSP and Greens also all offer a much less evil version of independence, albeit the SNP version is more populist.
