Brummie Hibs
I've been through the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed players between 1991-2015 from FIFA's World Player of the Year and Ballon d'Or awards, to see who the best player, at the time, was who scored against us. The closest I found was: Match date: 12 June 1992 Scotland 0 - 1 Holland Dennis Bergkamp Won 3rd place in 1993 I don't think there was a similar award before 1991. So, who do you reckon was the best player, at that time in the world, to score against us?
fringo
Good question, but if you took it back further and disregarded the Ballon d'Or it opens it up more e.g. some of the Brazil 1982 team - Zico etc.
daviebee
Zidane surely?
Brummie Hibs
Zidane surely? Actually you could be correct - that 5-0 in 2002 game escaped me. Zidane won it in 2003.
LewisEDI
zidane, henry, neymar, muller, van nistelroy, pirlo....gascoigne off the top of my head from the last 20 years were all top players at the time, as above zidance was the best in the world when he scored against us. Baz
zidane, henry, neymar, muller, van nistelroy, pirlo....gascoigne off the top of my head from the last 20 years Gascoigne? Really? fringo
Actually you could be correct - that 5-0 in 2002 game escaped me. Zidane won it in 2003. Me too. Must have wiped it from memory banks. One of the greats of all time IMO - never mind a Ballon d'Or trophy.

Robbo `81
I'd imagine at some point Bobby Charlton would've scored against Scotland. George Best too ?
the Sunnylaw Jag
Going even further back Just Fontaine of France scored against Scotland in the 1958 World Cup on his way to a record of 13 goals in a World Cup tournament that will probably never be beaten. ErsatzThistle
England and Derby County legend Steve Bloomer's goal from the halfway line against us in 1907 would have been some sight to see !
