  1. Went to game last night with nephew. My first time attending Ladies football, never seen more than a very seconds at a time, so went with no preconceptions, good or bad To sum it up in one line, last night was a Team of Women's Footballers v A team of women playing football.
  2. I sang the Shearer song as loud as anyone in 1996 / 98 , just as I would probably have sung the Harry Kane song as well. But I wouldn't sing either in 2023, which is the point surely. We've all done / said things at football we wish we hadn't in hindsight, things that perhaps society as a whole deemed as acceptable at the time - The 2 offensive terms used in the Kane song were commonplace when I was growing up.in 70s/80s - not saying it was right , just reporting facts -but cannot remember last time I heard either outwith Kane song.
  3. In my first stint going to Scotland games 86 -05 a LOT of fans , particularly away from home, seemed to care an AWFUL LOT about 'The Reputation' of Scotland fans... I don't know if this is still such a big thing or not, my matchday routine no longer includes pubs , away games, being in a TA club etc ,but if it is then the Harry Kane 'song' simply HAS to stop. I'm not one for booing any anthem personally, but do think this is way worse
  4. Sorry won't let me delete.on my phone
  5. He's on the move - Definitely/ Probably/ Possibly / Mebbe to Millwall depending on who you believe. Dykes & Nisbet up front for Club & Country ? 🤔
  6. Just wondering am I the only one who has no interest , as in really couldn't care less, far less want to watch the games how any Scotland Team other than what is now referred as Men's A Side does ? For avoidance of doubt, this is not a veiled dig about Women's Football in general or the like, and I get why we have Under whatever teams to get players experience etc but it's just watchingbthe games themselves, or xaring about the results is not something I've ever done.
  7. Again I can only speak for himself but I've always found terms such as 'windae licker' and 'mongo' use to describe people with Downs Syndrome to be particularly distasteful- both were very common in my younger days , but I don't remember hearing them much, if at all, in recent years , except for this chant. I cant control what other people do or think I can only hope this particular chant dies a death sooner than later
  8. I can only speak for myself, but in that particular chant 'Harry Kane' isn't the bit I have a problem with
  9. Liked the first 3 John Wick films in an enjoyable nonsense kind of way. John Wick 4 is overlong, turgid, boring, horrendous, atrocious garbage, lasts nearly 3 hours , 3 mins would have been too much to take
  10. If we're talking cringe songs that need binned I guess someone better mention the 'funny and relevant once, nearly 30 years ago' Doh a f***** deer 🦌
  11. I sang it loud back in the day, even then tho was never keen on the 'Alan Shearer packet of sweet and a cheeky smile' song... Ultimately, we all have a past and all have standards we adhere, we do things we are not proud of, bottom is this, I would like to live in a society / country/ planet where no-one sings ' Harry Kane licks the windaes on the bus, he's a fucking mongo'
  12. On this occasion it was the march from The Shed, previously I heard it on stairs leaving stadium after ROI game , group of guys easily my age or older ( I'm 52)
  13. Watching a video from the other night and once again hear a charmless ditty about Harry Kane 'licking windaes on the bus' I'm the first to admit to have sung songs with offensive lyrics in the past on many occasions, but surely in 2023 we have moved on as a support, and a society to the point rubbish like this should be consigned to the past ?
  14. Just seen an advert for Scotrail 'Club 50' - Saying to anyone over 50 can travel anywhere in Scotland for a flat rate of £15. Offer ends 26th March, so might be useful for those of a certain vintage getting train for Cyprus game.
  15. Russia away in 1995 sticks in my.mind as well. Leighton was immense that night
  16. I'd say the most over-rated, by Scotland fans, is Christian Dailly.. The very epitome of a "Journeyman" / "good pro" , even by Scottish standards, elevated to god like status by a lot of fans because he said 'f*ck' on TV
  17. Scotland playing in the World Cup at Giants Stadium ? Wouldn't get any better for me 🙂
  18. My travel plans have changed and am now going by train and Ferry so my flight is available if anyone wants it.. Aer Lingus Leave Glasgow 12-00 Noon on Friday Leave Dublin Approx 3pm on Monday Airlines will charge a total of £160 to change the name unfortunately, but I don't want anything on top of that
  19. Game postponed ironically due to International call ups
  20. If we play Wales and Wales win, Gareth Bale will be a huge part of it... So basically stop Bale, stop Wales.. First up, watch for needless fouls for any reason around the box Second and most important, designate 1 player, probably Gilmour, to stick to Bale like glue the whole game - 1 job, never be more than 12 inches away from him all night...make the game 10 v 10 but nullify Wales biggest threat
  21. Aye, it's not without its flaws.. 🤣 Maybe I was focusing on 'cause as little disruption in June as possible' too much .. Or just talking bollocks 🙄
  22. I feel Scotland should be playing Wales on Tuesday with the winner to play Ukraine for a place in Qatar I know that's not ideal, and Wales would potentially have to play 3 games, but from a bigger.picture viewpoint it means the least disruption in June...if Ukraine aren't able to play no changes to fixtures is required, but if they are then only 1 game would need to be accommodated instead of 2 as is now
  23. As a 50 something who's been watching Scotland teams for a lot of years, the one think that strikes me in general terms is from 1-11 ( in old money) this generation of players seem a lot more comfortable on the ball than previous generations... Anyone else share this perception, or am I just an auld git talking rubbish ?
