If Doncaster had just done a u-turn upon realising he made a massive error, he might, just might, have got away with it and possibly even earned some credit. However his abominable and arrogant attempt at defending the indefensible prior to making the u-turn (thus making the u-turn nothing other than a complete embarrassment for him and the SPFL) surely now makes his position completely and utterly untenable.

This, coupled with the many, many examples of ineptitude and total incompetence means that nobody outside his wee circle of trust can possibly see how he can continue in his role.

He has been an abject failure from day 1 and has failed miserably to achieve ANYTHING that a semi-competent CEO of the SPFL should have achieved.

He has to go.

Have to give credit to Stuart McCall saying what he did. Can't imagine many of his predecessors doing the same.

Aye, fair play. Super Sallary would have come out with some 'wearrapeepil no surrender' nonsense!

While it's good that common sense has prevailed I'd prefer it if all the games had been moved to the Sunday. I'm flying back from Dublin on the Saturday and don't land till 1330 so will likely miss the whole thing now!

To be brutally honest, the SPFL should've done for the Championship this season, taking into account Hearts v Rangers on the final day, what they do for the Premiership bottom six and decided months ago that all matches take place at 12.30pm on the Saturday with the possibility that at least one of them is scheduled for TV. However, that would be too much common sense for Doncaster and co.

Hearts to put in a formal complaint.

Hopefully this will start a ball rolling that gets Doncaster out of a job.

Sounds like 4 clubs are submitting formal complaints.

Seems that a tipping point has been reached.

Sportsound team seriously questioning Doncaster's position now...

HIBERNIAN WELCOMES FINAL ROUND DECISION

Hibernian FC today welcomed the intervention of SPFL broadcast partner Sky in ensuring that the final round of Championship fixtures can be played in a way that supports sporting integrity.

The intervention means that the SPFL has now agreed that all of the final round fixtures will kick off at the same time – 12.15 pm – on Saturday May 2nd.

While the role of our broadcast partner is beyond reproach in the matter, Hibernian remain deeply concerned at what we consider to be the mishandling of the situation by the SPFL, the body who are supposed to be the guardians of the competition and its sporting integrity.

Conversely, the Club has been gratified by the many messages of support received from clubs throughout Scotland, from supporters of many Clubs and from the media on this issue. We would specifically like to thank Heart of Midlothian FC and Rangers FC for their public statements of support.

Hibernian FC believes a review of the governance of the SPFL is now urgently required to ensure our league competitions are run professionally and with appropriate respect for all member clubs. The way in which the SPFL has communicated with Clubs involved in this situation has been far from acceptable.

Hibernian is deeply concerned that the SPFL sought to abdicate its responsibility, choosing instead to shuffle the onus on to its individual member clubs, and in particular on to Hibernian.

Leeann Dempster, Chief Executive, said: “In my view our position was made crystal clear to the SPFL, despite attempts being made to suggest our Club had not responded to make its position known. In response to the SPFL’s passing of the buck, Hibernian sent a timely email which stated that with deeply meaningful games involved we believed the responsibility lay with the SPFL to do what was right to ensure that sporting integrity of the competition was unimpeachable, and pointed to the protocols around final round fixtures which have been followed for some time.

“The SPFL chose to ignore this clear view that the duty to ensure a level playing field lay with them, and not with any individual club or group of clubs. Instead, a second email arrived seeking clarification on whether we were requesting a change to play at the same time as Hearts and Rangers or not. If we did not make such a specific request, we were told, they would “assume” we were content with the arrangement as proposed. This was disappointing.

“In our view, instead of doing what was right they sought to place the onus on Clubs to achieve parity – utterly contrary to protocols they themselves confirmed had existed for many years and in stark contrast to their plans for the final round of fixtures in the Premiership.

“This was a ludicrous situation entirely of the SPFL’s making. For example, in our view if we had requested a switch to coincide with the Hearts v Rangers clash it could have seen Queen of the South disadvantaged. Sporting integrity is sporting integrity and must be applied equally to all Clubs – and that is surely the job of the SPFL.”

Oooffft! Leeann's not missed and hit the wall there!

Ki11ie now looking for compensation after a longstanding request for a home game on the 50th anniversary of winning the league was ignored...

(edit: what associate of the B&W shite has been creative with the swear filter?)

Got to agree. That's a superb statement and it should leave Doncaster looking for a new job. Sadly he'll probably still be there next season.

Anyone know when his contract is up for renewal?

Get shot Doncaster and Regan and stick Dempster and Budge in charge. Total breath of fresh air and as a bonus, they are actually into football and not pocketing vast sums for zero effort.

It's times like this when you realise your cash isn't just going to over-paid footballers, it's the pure inept people at the "top" of the game.

Shambles and Doncaster's head should roll.

This is what I can't get my head round. Surely they can see that he is an idiot? Its not even as if he has delivered solid reasons for retaining him.

While Doncaster is the chief clown I think it would be fair to say that the clubs are just as bad - as a group of members they pretty much all seem hell bent on self destruction. Anne Budge, by making and taking a few blantantly obvious comments/suggestions/actions, is seen by many as a messiah, someone with the wisdom of Solomon, a visionary. But if you take a step back from the shambles that is Scottish foootball she hasn't done muc that any sensible person wouldn't see as pretty obvious.

I'm not talking armageddon, I just think we are watching the domestic game slowly die through lack of action, blatant self interest, a failure to understand that at it's heart should lie competition, fairness (in rules, cost to fans, transparency) and above all entertainment.

Over the last five to ten years I would say my interest in domestic football has declined to such an extent that it's simply a bit of a habit to go to a domestic game which if I wasn't twenty minutes from the ground, would have seen me chuck it completely.

TT
