  1. McLeish now favourite with the bookies! good old eck - always been a hero of mine!
  2. going to the Dons game today, anyone know where's good to park near the ground? Any decent pubs nearby?
  3. Moving to a new house, and looking to get SKY TV installed there - anyone know of any good deals, or codes? Best I've seen is £40 a month, for 18 months, for standard TV package, standard broadband and line rental, plus £50 set up costs
  4. Sorry to hear he's been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers Horrible disease
  5. Bit of a random one..... Does anyone know any companies that hire out large vans, or even HGVs, for one way trips? I'm looking to do a house move from Worcestershire up to Glasgow. Removals firms are charging a fortune, so I was looking into doing the move myself (my brother has an HGV licence. But last time I moved I did it with 2x Luton vans) I've seen Budget and Europcar do one way hires with smaller vans - anybody know of any companies that I might be able to try?
  6. Surely some mistake? Neither of those teams are from Glasgow?
  7. Cheers for the recommendations guys. I'll be meeting him off the train tomorrow afternoon and going for a wee drink* *ing binge
  8. Can anyone recommend some good traditional boozers in the centre of Glasgow, preferably within 10mins of Central Station? My faither in law is coming to visit next week, and I was going to take him on a wee pub crawl after I pick him up from the station
  9. Good advice, thanks all of you. I think I'll go with this - ask them for their full calculations, +£1200 to - £500 is a fair swing! Its just so annoying that they got it so wrong, when she asked them again and again to confirm it before! (She certainly wasn't on anywhere near 4grand a month btw- if she was, she'd be going back to work and i'd be staying at home full time with the bairn!)
  10. Dont suppose anyone on the TAMB is qualified to give a wee bit of legal advice?! My wife was on maternity leave for a year, and was due to go back in April. However we've since left where we were living and moved to Scotland, so she advised them back in February that she wouldn't be returning at the end of her maternity leave. She asked HR how much she would have to pay back from her maternity pay. They looked into it, and came back and said that because of leave accrued over the year, they would actually owe her £1200. We didn't really believe this, despite them insisting, and asked them to put it in writing, which they did, along with confirmation that she'd get the payment at the end of May. May came and went with no payment, so she phoned and queried it yesterday. They've looked into it, and now say they've made a mistake and she owes them £500! They asked if she was going to pay by card, or if they needed to start the 'debt recollection' process, as if she'd done something wrong! They've since written an email confirming the amount they say she owes, and apologising for their mistake.... Do we just have to pay this, aye? We have a letter from them earlier 'confirming' that they owed us money, but now an email 'confirming' they'd made a mistake and asking for payment ASAP. Do we just pay it? Don't want any debt collection companies involved, and we have the money kept aside- just infuriating they assured us one thing, and we planned for it, and now they're demanding payment!
  11. Spoke to the electoral roll dude at the council. Ballots getting posted out tomorrow, so I'll miss it. Probably too late to do a royal mail redirection as well, they take up to 5 days to set up. Couldn't register up North, only picky up keys to our rented place today. It would be SNP up North, and whoever has the best chance of bearing the tories down South, so this time Labour
  12. Quick question, I'm hoping someone might know the answer to.... I currently live down in England and have applied for a postal vote for the general election as I'll be away from home (currently in the process of moving back to Scotland!) But.... I'm going away tomorrow, and my postal ballot still hasn't arrived! A week and a half away from the election! No way I'll be back down on the 8th - does anyone know if I do the royal mail redirection service (where they send all your mail to a new address), whether or not the'll send ballot papers? Just wondered if they weren't allowed to redirect them specifically, for voter fraud or something?! Had a look at the Royal Mail website and the electoral commission and can't see anything. I phoned the council the other day and they say all the ballots haven't been sent yet as not all the parties standing have named their candidates yet... leaving it a bit late!
  13. Anyone know what the pub is at the end of the Tennents "caledonia" advert?
  14. Aye, on Twitter folk are saying he accepted the Forest job (only club in the UK as dysfunctional as rangers!) and resigned, only for Forest to change their mind- he tried to withdraw his resignation, but the club/company refused!
  15. Thanks again for all the advice - looks like the job in Glasgow is a goer, so I'll start looking through the recommendations again. Is the gspc.co.uk website as good as any for houses in the area?
  16. Thanks for all the tips, much appreciated Should have said, we'd be looking for a 3-4 bed hoose, around the £300k mark
  17. Alrighty? Might be moving back to Scotland next year, to Glasgow - a place that I don't know very well at all (other than Hampden, Parkhead and Ibrox, and I don't want to live in any of those places!) What areas would people recommend that we look at for buying a house? Folk have told me that the South side and West End are nicest - but what particular areas? I think ideally we'd be looking for somewhere that's not in the City Centre, but good transport links into it, or near some nice bars, restaurants etc and parks and decent schools Any advice much appreciated, planning on going up next week for a look around, so any advice on what areas to look at would be a big help, Thanks
  18. Worcester! Hence my desperation to start the indoctrination!
  19. That would be perfect, cheers! but it says "12-14 days for postage" Cheers though
  20. What about 'unofficial' merchandise?! Like for Aberdeen FC stuff, I've bought from websites like Dolly Digital, and Red Bubble - nothing similar for Scotland stuff?
  21. Any idea where I can get hold of a babies (6-9months) Scotland football kit, or replica, or similar? I need to start the indoctrination early! JD Sports have the official kit, but £32 seems pretty steep for a babies outfit! Any ideas? Looking to get one delivered this week. I've tried Greaves, eBay and Amazon with no joy Any help appreciated, cheers
  22. Booked it through Italiarail website (which I think is just an English language version of trenitalia) Thanks very much chaps!
  23. I did look at that trenitalia website, but it kept speaking Italian at me! I'll have another look, thanks
