Talk about forward planning from Gemmell. Final qualifying game of a campaign, were we've been out for ages and Gemmell precedes to choose just one eligible player for the next qualifying campaign.

How is this clown still in charge. He has absolutely no youth development skills or even forward thinking.

Why the feck is this born loser Scot Gemmill still in charge of our U21's ?

I expect the following three excuses will be offered:

"But, but, but .... he's Erchie's boy"

"Guid laddie who always turned up fir Craig Broon's squads"

"He's cheap"

Fuck off, get someone else in. Consider appointing a foreign coach.

Socking anti-football into the bargain.

Utterly horrendous regardless of whether the final result ends up being positive. The SFA must replace Gemmil, he is massively out of his depth. His tactics are baffling, his selections inconsistent and bewildering and his style abhorrent.

To be a bit more positive, we do have players at this level. This team could include Patterson, Ramsay, Gilmour, and Hickey, and the likes of Anderson, Fiorini, Doig and Barron are injured. Add on the likes of Lowry sitting on the bench and there is the bones of a very good side there.

I think he ground out the result to show he can manage a team in a siege situation for his CV. Maybe that’s harsh but it was brutal, and I don’t see how the players will have benefited. Okay, it’s Lowry’s first squad but no way would Denmark have him on the bench.

Some decent players at that level but unfortunately under Gemmill the u21s have been uninspiring for some time.

Is Lowry eligible for Denmark? 🙂

Get big John Hughes in. He’d be brilliant for the players and always plays attacking, passing football.

The same John Hughes who just got Dunfermline relegated to the Scottish third tier and who won only 24% of his matches in charge there ? That John Hughes ? Not for me.

He’s done very well in other jobs. It’s not all about winning at that age. It’s bonding and playing the right way.

I tried to find out where Anderson + Fiorini were ?
is this confirmed they are injured ??

We're talking about U21 level, not U12 level.

You do also realise that's an excuse Gemmill will come out with in his own defence ?

There were allegations of Hughes bullying young players at Falkirk and Raith Rovers, they were certainly delighted when he left. His whole "wurking class boy frae Leef" media pantomime has got very old too.

A man who just got a team relegated to the Scottish third tier should not be managing our U21 side. We can aim much higher than that.

His Hibs and Inverness teams played great football. Anyway, Gemmill needs to go before this should be discussed further. Can’t come soon enough.

Graeme Murty would be perfect for the u21s.

He plays passing/attacking football and is all about development and progress over results.

That's a dreadful thing at senior level as shown by his Rangers tenures but he is perfect for youth level.  He is far more forward thinking than the dinosaurs we have in charge at u19/u21 level currently.

Surely there are young promising coaches in Scotland, who we could try at u19/u21 level. I'd be happy with them even splitting their time between club and Country, if it meant we got someone willing to attempt playing football.
