I have a feeling they will vote with Sir Keir or abstain. If Sarwar can't control his two Scottish Labour MPs then how is he expecting us to believe that he can "hold Sir Keir to account" Looks like Labour are now going to back the SNP motion. Labour's unconditional support for Israel has cost innocent lives. Their labelling of any criticism of Israel as anti semitic has helped enable Netanyahu and the right wingers in his Government. Hertsscot
Top story on BBC website at present: Prince William has called for an "end to the fighting as soon as possible", in a strongly worded intervention on the Israel-Gaza conflict. Wow! Literally who cares. And what exactly will his 'strongly worded intervention' achieve?

He gets a good example of the response the govt are hoping for with this policy "...designed to appeal to the brain dead or the vicious...or both..." No idea what % of folk in England think like that but I suppose the election will tell us. So many policies based on deterrent or ill thought out 'common sense' but they never have the promised effect; just make lives harder which is the desired effect. Little England is going to strop the whole of this damned UK, I dread that we will be a part of it. James Cleverly should be renamed James Sleekitly. He was making up pish the other day about Scotland hosting half as many asylum seekers as England, which was debunked here: He's clearly trying to engender a sense amongst the good people of England that they have a raw deal, so vote Tory to ensure the slacking Scots pull their weight. Combined with last week's stupid statement from that Labour think-tank guy about sending people-smuggling gangs to some unspecified location in Scotland by barge, it's clear that not only does WM require our natural resources and tax revenues, it also needs our space. 21 hours ago, StirlingEgg said: ...and does an Alan Partridge style meeting with the farmers 😄The first PM to address the NFU since Brown in 2008. StirlingEgg
The way the WM pantomime is going today they'll be lucky to get a 30% turnout at the election. Tom Goldsmith, clerk of the House, says Speaker’s decision “represents a departure from the long-established convention for dealing with such amendments on Opposition days, governed by Standing Order No. 31”. I’ve been sent a copy that says there are 2 examples in last 25 years where an opposition amendment has been moved on another opposition party’s motion - “however, in those few circumstances, no government amendment had been tabled”

Orraloon
The is just corruption, pure and simple. "Senior Labour figures have told BBC Newsnight that the commons speaker Sir Lyndsay Hoyle was left in no doubt that Labour was prepared to see him fall as speaker after the general election unless he called its Gaza amendment. Newsnight has been told that it was made clear that Hoyle would need Labour votes to be re-elected after the general election and this might not be forthcoming. That would effectively mean he would lose the speakership."

But there won't be a cheep. Imagine senior SNP figures did this to Lorna Slater in Holyrood. It wouldn't be off the front pages for weeks with demands for sackings resignations. Ally Bongo
Vote begins on whether to sit in private A half-empty Chamber is now trying to decide whether to continue the sitting in private. That's a very rare move and last happened by accident more than two decades ago, in 2001. It means all members of the public must leave, broadcasting of proceedings ends, and the official record Hansard does not produce a transcript of what MPs say. However, the results of decisions is published. Edited February 21 by Ally Bongo

If there's any truth in the charge that he's been got at by Labour leadership he should be sacked, just shows the corruption of UK politics. SNP just need to be careful they're not seen as playing politics on such a critical issue as no doubt their opponents will spin it.
