I remember a time when letting down tires was an approved form of protest on this board.

Not only that, it's an effective military tactic. How else do you think the Ukrainians stopped the advance on Kiev?

Tanks don’t have tyres, mate.

Not all combat vehicles are tanks

Tanks need support vehicles

If you have watched A Bridge Too Far you can get a sense of what carnage can be caused by immobilising just one vehicle in a convoy of many

That’s a tank destroyer, not a tank.

I'm referencing (for those that don't know) McTaz's suggestion(many, many moons ago) during an Israel/Palestine discussion that the Gazans should stop whatever tactics they are using and instead just let down the IDF's tyres.

McTaz could bring military empires to their knees armed with only a tyre iron. He's probably in Ukraine now directing operations

what kind of a world are we living in?

only a matter of time before they do this to the wrong car and end up dead and they will only have themselves to blame

Which is a possibility, especially considering SUVs - particular expensive ones - are a popular choice of vehicle amongst folk engaged in "work" which is, as Alex Turner once sang, "not quite legitimate" and who tend to have quite finalistic ways of settling their disputes!

(That could make a good plotline for series 3 of 'Guilt'. 🤔)

The car market at the moment is flooded with SUV-type vehicles and not all of them are especially gas-guzzling, not with the way cars are manufactured nowadays.

In any case, while I have some sympathy for what they're trying to achieve, letting a complete stranger's car tires down is a cuntish thing to do.  There are worse things they could do to the vehicle, granted, but they have know way of knowing why that person has the car; they might have mobility issues, they might be a carer for someone with mobility issues or other disabilities, they might have to attend hospital for lifesaving treatment - there are multiple reasons, and none of them are any of their fucking business.

Renowned AJ journalist Shireen Abu Akleh killed whilst reporting on Israel incursion into the West Bank:

Al Jazeera reporter killed during Israeli raid in West Bank - BBC News

Israel are going with it was probably the Palestine forces  although from eye witness accounts that would have required skills akin to James McAvoy’s character in Wanted.  In fairness to the Beeb they do report both sides but still interesting that the Israel defence takes precedent to the Palestinian accusations.

AJ reporting they were shot at on purpose and were trying to kill the journalists in question despite clearly wearing ‘Press’ jackets – they’re going to have bias no doubt but they’re reporting the eye witness accounts of the surviving journalists:

Shireen Abu Akleh: Al Jazeera reporter killed by Israeli forces | Israel-Palestine conflict News | Al Jazeera

Shireen Abu Akleh held US citizenship so maybe an internal Israel investigation with the conclusion it was just ‘a mistake’ might be insufficient this time and the US might tell them to chill the fuck out using Ukraine as an excuse for covert shitebaggery for a bit.  More likely Palestinians will chuck a couple of rockets about in protest and Israel will respond by smashing up and taking more of the West Bank for settlement.

😂 wonder what happened to him?

I dare say he is still living in Germany and not posting anymore due to the board being so pish these days. (Although I thought I saw him post something not that long ago.) I always assumed he was ex-military (he fought in the Falklands so he must be getting on a bit).

It was when I cornered him on the Palestinian situation and kept asking him what he would do if someone invaded your lands, disposed you and herded you into open air concentration camps all the while killing your fellow citizens like they were shooting dogs.

To be fair I knew fine well he would do more than 'let the air down on their tyres' but he was not going to say that on here. (It was a hilarious answer at the time though. They would literally shoot you in the balls for fun as they did with Palestinian youths just for protesting. They just killed a famous Al Jazerra journalist in cold blood. It is going to take more than a flat to stop them I think.)

I liked McTaz even if we did disagree on a lot of stuff. There was as another ex-soldier on here who used to post (Donny something maybe?). Plus there was the jock(strap?) guy - I think he was army as well. Quite a few back then. Board was so mixed back then it was great. Sadly its day has passed.

That reminds me. I got a PM from a mod at the time saying it was not a warning but just telling me they had a lot of reports over a post where I enquired if McT had ever killed someone. Fair enough it was a bit of a personal question but I never expected so many people would complain.

Western media slammed for coverage of Shireen Abu Akleh’s killing | News | Al Jazeera

Beth Miller, the political director of Jewish Voice for Peace, slammed the New York Times for a headline that said Abu Akleh “dies at 51”, without mentioning the cause of her death....

...Referencing the same headline, Bassam Khawaja, the co-director of NYU Law’s Human Rights and Privatization Project, tweeted: “‘Dies at 51’ is a really strange way to say a journalist was shot in the head.”

“Shireen Abu Akleh was shot and killed by an Israeli sniper while reporting on an Israeli military raid of a refugee camp,” she tweeted....

...The New York Times also released a correction for “misstating” Al Jazeera’s statement on Abu Akleh’s killing, after initially reporting incorrectly that Al Jazeera had said Abu Akleh was killed in “clashes”.

Still appear to be sticking to the line that Palestinian soldiers have the same abilities as the characters in 'Wanted' shooting around walls and stuff:

No from memory I think that was the chap (I won't name) who when on a trip somewhere decided his hotel room was too hot to sleep in. So he did what we all would and slept outside on the window ledge of the room which was a few stories up. I think he was woken-up by the local fire brigade on a ladder or something who thought he was a potential 'jumper'.

edit: I would not say he was proud of it. But it was a bad idea sharing on here. The guy gave a him a heap of very nasty abuse out of the blue or something like that he said so he chinned him.

McTaz was actually very laid back despite getting a heap of shit on here at times. He did reveal one day that he had a handgun (legally). 😀 I am just guessing but I think he might have been in the parachute regiment. He was not boastful about it other than to say he was there (Falklands war). I think he did say he was army and the marines are navy so that why I think he might have been a para (but who knows). Definitely a few more interesting characters kicking about here back then.

'Bald' found to be sexual harassment:

Calling a man ‘bald’ is sexual harassment, employment tribunal rules | Sexual harassment | The Guardian

Hair loss is much more prevalent among men than women so using it to describe someone is a form of discrimination, a judge has concluded. Commenting on a man’s baldness in the workplace is equivalent to remarking on the size of a woman’s breasts, the finding suggests.

The ruling – made by a panel of three men who in making their judgment bemoaned their own lack of hair – comes in a case between a veteran electrician and the manufacturing firm where he was employed.

I've a slight squint so I'm going have to shut my eyes in meetings at this rate or HR will be all over me - if we employ a bald woman I'm just going to report myself to speed up the process.

Finn alleged that during a shopfloor row in July 2019, King had referred to him as a “bald cunt”. The tribunal heard Finn was less upset by the “Anglo-Saxon” language than the comment on his appearance.

'Bald' trumps 'cunt' in the slur league table - who knew!

Can’t remember what his user name was on here but he was a Patrick Thistle fan,   I met him once in Cyprus at an away game, didn’t look like he could fight sleep, tbh.

I don't know if they're all exactly the same person but OLAS was the guy who slept on the window ledge.

However they're more famous to me for that Parklife(the poster) meme when he got unfairly banned for a time. Which happened to Parkie a lot, he was always getting weird bans or warnings.

I hope everyone mentioned is doing well!
