vanderark14
So celtic are off to dubai, is this really the most sensible business trip to take right now?

Apparently they flew out straight after the game on Saturday, so still in their ‘safe’ bubble. Looking at the bigger picture though, in the current climate, its fucking stupid. Pie and Bovril really had a go about it the other day on Twitter, along the lines of “St. Mirren get the punishment they got for car sharing, yet Celtic fly to Dubai”. Hopefully that have to stay there and forfeit games

My understanding is travel was meant to be for essential purposes only, this isn't essential. It may be within the rules but you are right its fucking stupid and smacks of footballers/club thinking they ae above everyone else.

I agree with you. What kind of message does this send. There is nothing essential about lying on the beach, drinking Pinacoladas and sunbathing while the rest of Scotland is in lockdown. Not to mention if one of them get infected, its dangerous to others. Terrible decision on Celtics part...

An let's not forget how these bubbles have proven to be faulty.

Lairdyfaeinverclyde
What Celtic have got themselves into is a bigger own goal than McGregors on Sunday. It wasn't if they needed the break for R and R. They have not exactly worked there arses off this season. Clowns- club, players and management. Deserve all the shit that's coming their way. Sharing hot tubs and sunbathing with a pint 2 feet from each other, while clubs getting slaughtered for not sitting far enough apart at lunch after training. 🤷♂️

Diamond Scot
Playing abit of Devils advocate here but Celtic havent broken any rules. They sought permission and it was granted. As far as we are aware they have followed all the protocols. There is no comparison with clubs like St Mirren who broke the rules by car sharing. I'll advised and shocking PR yes but there is no case to answer here in terms of punishment.

They sought permission before circumstances changed, the country was put into lockdown with stronger restrictions on boxing day. Travel was meant to be essential only. This is not essential travel

There is no further definition of where you travel to train. Only the protocols that must be taken when doing so. Now it may be that those protocols have been breached as some pictures suggest bubbles have been broken and distancing hasnt been followed but thats a seperate matter. Im purely talking from a legal perspective here. Not a moral or common sence one.

Otherwise what the fuck are the rest of us doing?

Im not sure what the rules are for distancing within training complexes. Id imagine that if a group is allowed to sit around the same table in Lennoxtown drinking coffee then they will be allowed to sit around the same table in Dubai drinking pints as the hotel complex they are staying in has been classed as their place of training.
