OLAS
Don't see this anywhere else? Italy will play Scotland in a pre-Euro 2016 friendly match in Malta on May 29, the Malta Football Association said. The match will be played at Ta' Qali national stadium. Malta will play Scotland in its opening 2018 world cup qualifier in September. http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20160209/sport/italy-to-play-scotland-in-malta-on-may-29.601811
Bristolhibby
Malta in late May? Bizarre, shame we are going there in September, I'd have been up for that. Not going in May then back in September. J
Mazziessc
Same. I like to keep my trips short and this doesn't seem like the kinda place to get in and out cheaply in a day or two. I was hoping the game in Switzerland rumour was true.

deecie
Speaking on behalf of those who can't make the game on September, I think this is a fantastic idea.
aaid
Makes a bit of sense. The team will get some familiarity with the stadium and facilities.
ErsatzThistle
Glad to see the SFA being a bit more adventurous with regard to friendly opponents. Fantastic also to rekindle old memories of the 2006 and 2007 games against Italy and France. One slight worry I have though is the *possibility* of it all going pear shaped on the park and suffering back-to-back humpings on the 29th of May and June 4th respectively. Wouldn't be good for morale and the "sack the manager" morons at the Record and so on, could be calling for Strachan's head. *Not saying that it's a certainty. Donaldo87
So is that it then or is there a chance of a 3rd game that some people were suggesting?
aaid
I'd say that's it. Sounds like they will be based in Malta for a week or so and then will fly to France for the game there.

Kirk
The pitch, the climate, the hotel ... They should be able to play on any surface as they are paid a fortune to do so. Climate i will give you, and a hotel is a hotel, its probably nicer than most hotels too

irnbruman
Bollocks tae that - if the game was in Italy fair enough - not going to Malta for a friendly when I'm back there in September. What the fook is wrong with playing them in Italy ffs.
Mazziessc
flight prices are crackers, anyone know of any non wallet busting options! No easy, but cheapish. EDI Malta £114 28th. Malta Stan £63 30th 8hr camp in airport before first flight back to Glasgow £15. Throw in £50 hotel less than £250 total.

tartanmartin
should be easy enough to play your way into the team and get on the SFA charter. never say never.
