One of the worst films I have seen this year is Snowpiercer. What the ...Typical Hollywood movie made these days. The ending made about as much sense as the start, arse gravy in between. About the only thing it spent thought on were the endless scenes of violence. I only watched it because it had high reviews but clearly it was one of those dodgy rated movies. Avoid.

Bizarre. It's the opposite of a typical Hollywood movie and that's probably why it has struggled to get a release in Britain and America. It's a Korean and European co-production and totally different in style and tone to a Hollywood summer movie. Don't avoid, it's original and great.

Watched Predestination last night. I think I may need to watch it again to fully understand it, but the ending does visually tell you what you've just watched.

Very slow to begin with, but that makes sense as the movie progresses. I suppose it was pretty good and worth a watch!

Was in a shop in the States the other day and the two sales assistants were having this self same debate, one thought it was film of the year, the other thought it was trash. Got on the plane home and it was one of the movie options so watched it on the way back.

I think it's worth a whirl as there are elements of originality in there and an interesting turn from Tilda Swinton who I'm usually not a huge fan of if I'm being honest. Overall I was a little bit disappointed as I thought long periods of it were quite dull, but I'm not a big fan of long fight scenes and they're probably much worse for watching it on a six inch screen in the seat back in front.

On a positive(ish) note, I saw the Imitation Game whichI thought was pretty good, though maybe not quite as good as the hype suggests, but well worth a watch. Also saw the Normal Heart, which I had seen on stage and the film adaptation was pretty decent, with a good lead from Mark Ruffalo and decent enough support from Julia Roberts - though it wasn't anywhere near as good as the stage production!

Enjoying my first day off work today and I've watched a few films.

Out of the Furnace is very good, and Last Passenger was enjoyable (if only to wonder why they were using a 1970/80 style diesel on a south of England train line).

Now settling down to a Sons of Anarchy series 6 marathon.

The Hobbit (5 armies) was really good - although as with Lord of the rings, the books where so much better

:ok::ok:

The books always win hands down. The great thing about the Hobbit and the LOTR trilogy is that their not just wonderful stories but great literature too. Kids and adults can enjoy them equally.

The stories and indeed, that whole world and it's inhabitants created by Tolkien is just breathtaking. A top Englishman.

Will always be infinitely superior to the safe, warm, middle class appeasing rubbish that the so called socialist J.K. Rowling has made tens of millions out of. Give me the old, pipe smoking, curmudgeon Oxford Don and his works any day.
