Parklife
I would've liked to see Michael Devlin at Accies get a chance, especially in a squad light on defenders. He's done well this season when i've saw him. Cammy Smith is an excellent young player too but he needs to get in to the Aberdeen team more. There is no point in speculating over players that weren't included. I think we are all in agreement that Stark tends to be completely unaware of the decent u21 kids coming through. Paterson and Findlay, for example, are guaranteed a spot in the squad despite dozens of other eligible players doing far more than them, even within their own team. In what world does a player, currently at Morton, deserve inclusion before Tony Watt?! And why are any of those midfielders in there ahead of Callum McGregor, who is still only 21. Even Jack Harper is a shout, who scored in the Youth Champions league for Real Madrid. He called up a 17 year old Feruz for a lot less. Thankfully this will be the last ever squad Stark picks (It felt good to type that) Edited November 5, 2014 by Tartan blood
podgers1903
Is Ryan Jack too old for the squad now as he has been Aberdeen's stand out player so far this season.I would also be trying to get the boy Mowatt from Leeds, he has been decent. Although born in England his dad is Scottish
ErsatzThistle
I'm pretty sure Mowatt was involved in some Scotland Under 19s or Under 21s training camp very recently. Or at least he was named in one. Has however played for England Under 19s earlier this year too.

wanderer
Whats happened with him....not heard anything about his progress (if any) for ages ? Said he did not want to play for Scotland (though unclear if it was at a specific age level and if it was just for a up coming match or in general).... Chelsea loaned him out to the Russian 2nd division to try toughen him up.... lasted a couple of days before returning and has been loaned out to a Greek club (Crete I think, but not 100% sure)

wanderer
Really hope he still makes it, but it might turn out that Celtic got a good deal there! Whenever I have seen him play with Scotland he has not impressed me! The skill is there, but he is clearly not a team player as just did not seem interested to be there. ErsatzThistle
In the past, Feruz has also came across as being, well, a bit thick ! Agree with Parklife that Michael Devlin should have been in there. At least Hendrie is getting a look in. Some good young Scots at Hamilton right now with Devlin, Hendrie, Gordon and Crawford doing well. There's been quite a few scouts at their games in the past few weeks. No point in picking players who are not able to play in the next qualifying round.

GHfaeGTA
How many in that squad would you say are regulars with their clubs 1st team? No more than 5 I would say which is shocking for a national under 21 team

No more than 5 I would say which is shocking for a national under 21 team Slater started as a regular but got a wee knock, Clingan (NI international) replaced him and he's struggled to displace him. wanderer
Spragia picked it did he not? He was interviewed on BBC last night about if he would fancy the job full time (said no) and how this was all put upon him last minute and he now has to look after the U21's with Scott Gemmill promoted to U19 manager. Maybe he has added touches here and there, but suspect this will probably be Starks core squad, with Sbragia promoting a couple of U19's. Tartan blood
Spragia picked it did he not?I noticed that after I'd posted. Either way, Sbragia wouldn't have had much time to survey every eligible player. He is only temporary anyway. A better squad than a usual Stark special
ErsatzThistle
Just noticed that Mowatt of Leeds that we discussed earlier in this thread was called up for England Under 20s today. Looks like we can forget about him then, he's made his choice.
