antidote
I'm in asda at least every second day, and there's no hope of me taking a bag in to save a few pence. I think it's a waste of time, just seems daft. Asda is on the boycott list.
Flure
ROI had to increase the charge to 15p equlivalent, after the initial dramatic drop in use, folk became complacent and use went up again. I'd assume the same will happen here. Oh, I didn't know that.

TartanJon
I think it's great that you can buy single bottles now instead of a 6 pack, 8 is a much better number. It's the green bottle that comes in a six pack ,the Pilsner version is always in the single bottle.

Nah, the 500ml bottles used to be in a six pack too, now they are sold singly. I've been buying Perlenbacher Premium Pils ever since it was called Bergadler Premium Pils. daddybuc16
People (myself included) don't want to pay the 5p, because we know fine well that maybe 1p of it will go to charity, and the rest will go to the supermarkets profits.

Don't pay anything, take bags with you. Or, even better, don't use carrier bags at all!
daddybuc16
Meant to add that i, like most will be making sure i have re-usable bags in the car when we go shopping.
perthTam
Would I be a bad man if I wandered round Tesco with an Asda re-usable bag instead of paying this 5p?
biffer
I've been trying not to use carrier bags for a few years now, I've got five or six bags I've had for years. One permanently in my laptop bag for work so I use that if I need to get anything on the way home.
deecie
Anybody want to buy a canvas bag? All the profits will not be going to charity.
andreimack
I bought three of those heavy duty bags for life and put them in the boot of the car to stop me from using the throw away plastic ones when I shop, they're now in the boot filled with the throw away plastic ones I'm going to reuse. DonnyTJS
Luanda and its outlying villages are rank with plastic carriers - trees, power lines, barbed wire, anyone daft enough to stand still for five minutes: all festooned with the bloody things. Like biffer, not used them in years. A handful of canvas bags get a shedload of use and still going strong. The only problem is occasionally a plastic carrier bag would be really handy for summat and there are none kicking about the house.
jimstroma
I am amazed at the amount of men on here that go shopping. I will leave the shopping to the wife and never have to worry about paying for a carrier bag

hunchy
This will also have the affect of pushing folk to buy proper bin bags instead of using the plastic bags they get with the shopping thus giving the supermarkets even more profits
