Continuity TAMB

🤣🤣

I hate to spoil the intrigue but The Scottish Forum was set up a few years ago when there was the distinct threat that the TAMB was closing down. A guy called Jimmy ( yes, Jimmy ….) kindly offered to set up a new board , there was an open invitation on here to everyone at the time. Only a few folk signed up though. It kept going for a while, was a good laugh, but I struggled to have time to read both boards. As you can see there has been nothing on it for a while.

That was a bit of a random post by thplinth, think he must have drunk too much  BigFoot stout  😁

Yes it was set up in good faith primarily as a sort of 'nuclear' option if the TAMB went down (as it seemed in danger of doing), so people could muster at that alternative location, rather than be scattered to the winds.

A key difference, it was set up to be about Scottish things in general, not particularly football, so it avoids the usual controversies and antipathies of football (and politics).

But it was a bit like a dummy site, like 'what would it look like to have a forum for Scottish interest in general', and the categories and tone kind of reflect that. And so people just dreamed up any old categories and posted any stuff for fun, and for a while it sort of took on a life of its own.

Although it looks a bit quaint now, at the start it had more people on it than have been recently on the main TAMB - at least in the Anything Goes section - at least until recent Ukraine surge in posting. But in principle anyone could (can) join and post there.

😂 For once it is a genuine question.

😂 I have no idea what Jimmy’s surname is. Do you know ANYTHING  about ‘ spyery’ ? You dont tell anyone your surname 🙄

Think he lives in America if that narrows it down a bit.

It was no secret. The people that ran this board said they were closing it because of costs or some nonsense. There was a thread on here where people put forward ideas for keeping it open.

Guy called Jimmy offered to take it over and as an illustration of how easy it would be, he set up a sort of test site. People that had commented on the thread were asked if they wanted to come on board and chuck ideas around and Jimmy also put an open invite on here asking if anybody else wanted to contribute. Jimmy was in discussions with the people that ran this board and it looked like he was taking it on, then last minute they said they were handing it on to someone else. Great news, the board was to stay alive!

From my point of view, I’d got to like the people on the Scottish Forum so I carried on chatting to them until eventually they all drifted off. There was no need to promote it because the TAMB had survived which was its sole purpose. There were technical problems and I got locked out of TAMB, then forgot my password. This thread made me try out various passwords again. Thanks aaid :D

Bobster ! 😍 Long time no speak. How are you ? How are your 7 daughters? 😁

Wonder where Bluegaz is these days . Its  quite nostalgic looking back at it . I lost my sign on ages ago as I was always signed in and when I got kicked out once I didnt know how to get back on.

Someone was saying on the Ukraine thread that they thought that SPecialised  Out Sourcing person was here to kill off the board but its got busier since they appeared, would have been easier to let it die on its own if the owners wanted rid.

isn't the password just [something simple]? or did you change it to something more difficult to remember? 😅

(we can ask @jimmy!)

Wtf ! I thought I would just give it a go using a password I use regularly but it populated my username automatically and let me in without a password using Face ID !  How the hell does that work ? This is like James Bond 😁

Interesting.

I have a theory, bear with me....

The Tamb has been identified as a key battleground in the culture wars in Scotland, which makes it a target for all sorts of outside interference. In fact, i wouldn't be surprised if Putin himself has an account.

Lately wild accusations of Tamber's secret identities have been thrown out. Let's try to keep track of them:

aaid: High ranking SNP official. Wife of Iain Blackford, Anne Blackford.

thplinth: Oligarch employee. Likely working from St. Petersburg for the IRA. Possibly Stuart Campbell of Wings fame.

SpecialisedOutsourcing: Just plain old Chripper doing his thing.

Hampden Loon: Alex Salmond himself.

Tdyer: International currency magnate. Likely wife of George Soros.

Am i missing any?

haha that made me laugh, good post. I never relised that site even existed, i will away have a look

Exhausting! If only all I had to worry about was whether they wanted to wear Adidas or Nike. Lovely to speak to you again.

Seconded. Seems he was locked out the tamb reading the alt-tamb.

Great to see you active on here thplinth. This board has always needed you and I missed you when you left the other one.

I'll take the blame for the jokes thread. 😅

Never mind the jokes thread. You never finished my Christmas quiz!

I never liked her 😆

I foolishly did not bookmark the site but when aaid posted it this morning I found out it had remembered my password. 😍

I am really happy I now have it bookmarked. Cheers Jimmy if you are still about.

There's some funny stuff on there. Jimmy did post something fairly recently. Well - in the the last 2 years anyway 🙂

Although it changed direction once the TAMB stayed open, early on there were some cracking ideas for this board. How to engage more people, make it more relevant and attract new members. I'm pretty sure that Donny messaged admin on here and said that he'd send the ideas over but he didn't get a reply. Ah well.

The passwords were very simple. Just your user name and something else I'll not say. I remember thinking they were so simple that I tried to hack into G-Mans account so I could post some random stuff but I think she must have changed it 😂

What else made me laugh round that time was when we all removed all her 'likes' so that she moved down the leaderboard. Fringo ended up on top and we all thought he'd get the blame 😂 Then we realised it showed what we'd done on the activity log 😅🤣

Bobster, are you aware “thplinth”  is a paid Russian Asset who supports Putin, supports the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the murder of Ukrainian civilians?

Personally would find it hard to like someone like that unless you also are bereft of morality.

Can you at least keep this shit to one thread? Or even better PM thplinth and try and argue with him that way

I was going to suggest exactly the same thing.

He also pushes Russian propaganda & “talking points” on a daily basis on here, hoping to manipulate the most vulnerable & naive posters remaining on here.

Of course, he can correct the record at any time. 7 days and counting now. Tick tock….

Who are these vulnerable and naive posters he's trying to manipulate?
