Craig Murray standing for AFI?

Are they the folk set up by one of the folk who voted against same sex marriage? That was when i withdrew my support of the SNP. They allowed a free-vote on that but made folk toe the line on other issues.

He advocated a what amounted to a "separate but equal" policy

So seems radical idealogy on both sides of the party.

I'm not sure specifically about voting against same sex marriage but its the ISP (Independence for Scotland Party) that has a platform which could broadly be described as more socially conservative that the SNP.

AFI are Action for Independence, they were originally called Alliance for Independence but the Electoral Commission felt that was too ambiguous.   I don't get the impression that they are a party in the traditional sense of having an agreed platform but rather an umbrella grouping for what could best be described as pro-Indy Independents, I suspect that aside from Scotland being Independent and that they don't like the SNP, it would probably be hard to get them to agree on anything.   The only candidates I'm aware of are Martin Keatings, who is the guy bringing the Section 30 court case and was also involved in the Indy Camp at Holyrood, He's standing in Mid Scotland and Fife, and Craig Murray who is standing in Lothians - so you can vote for him if you want.

He says (via Twitter 1 Hour ago):

"I have told the AFI alliance I am available as a candidate, but I haven't actually been adopted yet.

There is an obvious case for a more Independence focused list only party. But it is really daft for the AFI and ISP to stand against each other. They urgently need to combine. Both ISP and AFI really MUST swallow pride to combine. I will happily stand aside if it helps. "

Is he saying that he is happy to stand down, when he hasn't even been selected yet?

It really is hilarious listening to the unionist parties thinking they are turning up the heat on the SNP for anything found in unionist newspapers. The finny part about it is that they rant but NEVER do we hear their plans in place to improve certain things they have issues with. It says it all. There is no plan.

Well brexit has improved things and so has staying part of the UK union.

GDP has improved

Food prices going down

National debt.. OK not improved but that's due to covid.

I see the SNP have applied to the Electoral Commission to have some sort of message about IndyRef2 against their candidates names on the ballot paper.

A smart move, it *should* shut up those "pro-Indy" naysayers who think they don't mean it, but probably won't.

It does remove any arguments around "oh well, people didn't know what they were voting for and people vote for a party for all sorts of reasons" that have been trotted out in the past.  If they are literally putting a cross against a box that says to the effect of "I'm voting for IndyRef2", that's an argument that's hard to stand up.

I still think that they need to tie up with the Greens to make sure that whatever form of words they use in their referendums aren't open to interpretation.  That was a problem in 2016.

Hmm, how to decide who to vote for, the Pro-Union Anti-Holyrood Pro-Brexit Tories, the Pro-Union Actual Pro-Brexit UKIP, the Pro-Union Ex-Brexit Reform party, the Pro-Union Anti-Holyrood Actual Anti Holyrood Party, or the Pro-Union All4Galloway Party?

George Galloway was a great lesson on when you align with someone on one issue you find reall important (for me the 2003 invasion of Iraq) how readily you ignore all their other faults and make excuses for them, just cause you agree on something of great personal value to you.

Going back to this point. GG made a powerful anti-war case at the time and had millions on his side.

But I wonder how may follow him across all his opinions and obsessions. There can't be too many working class gamekeepers, pro-Irish Unity anti Scottish independence, pro-Muslim British-nationalist socialist Tory collaborators?

NHS staff in Scotland to get 4% pay rise. Nice way to kick off the election campaign. I've been told the timing of the announcement is totally coincidental.

How long before a U-turn from Boris?

Well the Scottish Tories are trying to claim Tory credit saying its only due to Westminster upping money paid to Holyrood.

Well they should be able to give their nurses down south the same rise then...
