Against the agile and equally compact standing Mexicans but had to serve for a penalty. Earlier, the German team had indeed significantly more possession, but could not really capitalize on it in an uneventful game. The Mexicans Edson Alvarez saw in the 78th minute the yellow card. Hertsscot
Neale Cooper was hailed as a bright new talent at a young team tournament Think it was the kaiser saying that ? Mexico in 80s from memory Cooper was a very decent player, probably not the best move going to Villa but injuries really wrecked his career. When you watched him as a teenager it certainly looked like he was a talented player who would win many caps either as a centre half or a defensive midfielder. Cooper himself played the comments saying it showed even the great Beckenbauer could occassionally talk shite.

DaveyDenoon
Had a few beers with Cooper a couple of years ago. Was happy to talk about his career. Great guy. Yes, he is. I met him whilst he was manager at Ross county and a thoroughly decent bloke. And he was an outstanding player who would've achieved so much more than he did but for injuries. And he achieved a fair bit.
McExpat
We've often got good results at youth level but where has that gotten us on the big stage? Sadly nowhere of note
henry george
Scotland drew 2-2 with hosts Germany today in the final game of the tournament to finish unbeaten and second overall. That's pretty impressive and bodes well for Euro U19 qualifiers later in the year. Match report courtesy of Google Translate from the German FA site. Particularly pleasing was that we not only adopted a "counterrevolutionary" approach but also showed good "umschaltspiel" - something I've been advocating fot some time on this forum! The U 19 juniors of the German Football Association (DFB) have won the Mercedes-Benz Cup elite. On Monday evening, the DFB-selection was enough in Reutlingen a 2: 2 (0: 1) -Unentschieden against Scotland to make perfect by winning the title. "It was a very intense game against a very well-organized opponents, who showed good Umschaltspiel" analyzed U 19 coach Marcus Sorg and praised the morale of his team that came back after two residue: "In the end the team has great will shown . the tournament wanted to win. "2782 spectators saw in the stadium at the Kreuzeiche an exciting game in which the dangerous counterrevolutionary ends Scots demanded the Sorg team everything. The first big chance earned the young German team. Philipp Ochs missed the guide barely. It went better with the guests: 17 minutes Greg Kiltie penalty spot. The DFB had after much possession, unlucky Joshua Bitter, who hit the crossbar after a great action. Four minutes after the break broke Max Besuschkow then the spell and scored the equalizer in the mesh. It features the German U 19 but was only three minutes. Then the ball squirmed again in the net of the Germans. Aidan Nesbitt let Dominik Reimann in the box of the German no chance. Germany then showed fighting spirit and great moral, not stuck up, and came again to compensate. Suat Serdar (65th) from the FSV Mainz 05 made the final score forth. Thanks to the two previous wins and a 2: 2 draw the Scots against the USA gave the German team a draw to win the tournament and the successful rehearsal for the U-19 European Championship in 2016, which once again from July 11, 2016 in nine different stadiums in Baden -Württemberg is played. Also Sorg drew a very positive conclusion: "That was a very, very good tournament, operationally and organizationally, we can draw a lot of conclusions from this tournament Opponents have demanded everything us..."
