Ive two. One which has been going on for most of my life is where im in a fight but my punches arent having any effect on my opponent ( I actually fell out of bed last year trying to banjo somebody in my dream with a left hook). The other is where im teeing off on a hole and i can't get the ball to sit on the tee. This can go on for a long time. For any golfers out there its worse than kevin na.

One guy I play golf with, now and again, does that in real life and it gets pretty fukin annoying after a few holes.

i went through a phase of having the 'naked in public' recurring dream. The plot was usually the same, I'd be stranded somewhere familiar but with no clothes on and I'd have to try and get home without being spotted.

Kinda on the same subject - know how if you've been sleeping on your arm it goes dead and when you wake up it takes about 30secs to come back to life? One time I somehow managed to get 2 dead arms and the alarm goes off but with 2 dead arms I cant move. I just had to lie there laughing at the ridiculous situation - with the alarm bleeping away - until the feeling came back into my arms.

I've been very close to "naked in public" in real life! About 7 or so years ago I went through a spell of sleepwalking and twice the missus woke in the middle of the night to find me bollock naked at the front door trying to get out!

Used to get sleep paralysis quite regularly. Scared the utter sh1t out me each time. Had to go to the docs to get sleeping tablets because I was that scared of going to sleep.

Every time it was someone entering the room and then standing over me. On occasion they would try and choke me. You feel completely awake but can not move a muscle and when the choking happened you can't breath. When you eventually snap free out it/wake up it is extraordinarily frightening because it seems so real.

I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy and rarely ever discuss it for fear of triggering my brain into its return. Give me a shit scary nightmare over that any day of the week.

The choking is actually you panicking. During sleep paralysis or Cataplexy (when it happens during the day when not asleep) all muscles can be affected except the ones that keep your blood pumping and you breathing. It really is a wondrous state of the human body.

I've had that - once - horrendous.

I've heard that some folk give themselves a dead arm so it feels like they are getting a whank off a stranger - were you trying for a solo threesome ^?^

I get a recurring dream where I've got the ball teed up fine but then the problems start. Either I've got no room to take a stance or there's something behind interfering with the backswing. Very frustrating as the dream has usually involved watching people tee off before me with no problems at all.

My old dug (she died in 1994) keeps 'visiting' me in my dreams - that's the only recurring one I have.

I'm often visited by the best dug I ever had the privilege of knowing. Always so vivid as well. Feel like crap when I wake up and realise he won't be there. :(

Not really recurring but my missus often has weird dreams. Sometimes I get woken up by her arranging work meetings in her sleep. I often take the p*ss out of her at the time asking all sorts of questions that she happily responds to and remembers nothing about in the morning. Mind you one night she started "fighting" some other woman. Nearly sh@t masel when I got suddenly put in a headlock!

I get sleep paralysis from time to tome, its pretty horrible. Can be different things for me but often when om really tired ill nod off and then get it like two mins later, this can happen costantly and to break it i need to get up and go to the toilet or something, really weird. Also find sleeping on my back causes it. Most of the time its not too bad but sometimes it can feel like its going on for ages and you do get really stressed by it.

Interesting reading about all the sleep paralysis dreams. I had one of those once, many years ago. Maybe a year or so after I'd joined the the RAF, and was still trying to find my feet and a bit nervy and homesick about the whole thing (not really relevant I suppose but someone once told me that there are no random dreams, they're all connected to how you're feeling or something going on in your life).

Anyway, it was the wee hours and there was a knock at my room door and then someone trying the handle. I tried to get up but couldn't move a muscle, like I was wrapped tight in something. I felt lucid (ie I felt fear and trying to work out what I'd do if the intruder got into my room) and even opened my eyes but I simply couldn't move. Can't remember how long it lasted (the handle was tried another couple of times) but I do recall taking forever to pluck up the courage to turn on the bedside light when I could eventually move. Absolutely petrifying but it's never happened again.

Can't remember the context but I had a close encounter with a Tyrannosaurus Rex last night. Slight movement gave us away, T-Rex steams over, then had to re-freeze while the T-Rex sniffed me up, it's massive big head was nudging me and sniffing while deciding if I should be eaten. Very loud sniffing I recall. Went on for a while.

Do you have a dog?

speaking of vivid dreams, has anybody here ever had an experience with sleep paralysis?......now that IS scary sh1t!! it has only happened to me on four occasions but I remember each one vividly,

really hard to explain, each time has been slightly different. during an episode it is always hard to tell if you are dreaming or not.

for example the first time it happened to me I got out of bed and began to walk around my bedroom, looked out the window, it was sunny outside and there was a horrible looking goblin type creature looking back at me. part of me knew I was only dreaming as it was night and should be dark outside but it was extremely difficult to get a sense of reality. it went on for what felt like forever before I finally woke up, it was absolutely terrifying!

On another occasion, I actually thought I might be dead but I was lying face down and could feel my heart thumping against the mattress, so this reassured me.

Like I say, it's difficult to explain. All I know is that I will be happy if I never have to experience it again.

Remembered this thread after searching the 'net for sleep paralysis info cos of what I experienced last night - a malevolent "presence" came into the room and seemed to envelope me. I remember telling it, "I COMMAND you to go!" after it refused to move. 🤣 Then a more benevolent one appeared and wanted to keep me safe but I told it to go away as well. Pretty fkin unsettling I have to say, knowing this thing was in your room and getting closer until it seemed to be everywhere and I couldn't even turn to look at it. Never had anything like that before and will be quite happy if it never happens again. Revisiting the above stuff on this thread though it appears I got off pretty lightly. 😱

I would just be grateful to be asleep long enough to dream. The odd time I do have a vivid dream it’s usually the dream a couple of posters have already mentioned, not packed for a flight which is only an hour or so from departing. It’s exhausting,  both in the dream and when I wake up.

The ‘knowing you are dreaming and can wake yourself up’ thing that has been mentioned was discussed in a more recent thread. I find it amazing you can know you are actually dreaming and get yourself out of it. I have never had that experience, I just have to go through the nightmare till I naturally wake from it.

I heard anxiety but who knows.

I dreamed last night that I got a girl from work pregnant at the Christmas party. The entire work ostracised me and the wife and family disowned me. It was really horrible and I was so relieved when I woke up. Needles to say i didn't tell the wife and I'll be removing my name from the Christmas party list later!

Anything planned for the big 10 th birthday ? 😉

I actually thought I’d posted on this but having reread I must have dreamt it. Anyhoo Iv being having the same dream once or twice a year for decades, I’m playing football where I grew up and the earth starts tilting until the gradient is such I’m sliding trying to hold on to the grass but it’s cut like a bowling green and slowing I start grasping and grabbing as the slope increases but I never actually fall. Also I have one where my mum appears at my bedroom door which isn’t much of a stretch as her ashes are in the hall cupboard!

Is the first dream easter road related? I have a recurring dream where I'm walking through my childhood home but it gives me the fear...

i often have very violent dreams where i am backed in to a corner and hack people to death or gouge their eyeballs out or am escaping from some terrible’ unforseen darkness.  All very disturbing and doesn’t lead to a very restful existence.

ended up at the sleep clinic years ago where they wanted to prescribe klonopin…. After reading about it decided to live with the terrors!

Sounds like a normal day on here for you 🙂

I have another regular dream, quite boring, I am adding up a long strip of numbers on a calculator and cannot get the same answer twice. I get really stressed in the dream. Pretty sure that must be signifying something other than I cant add up.

😂😂😂

hmmn not sure about things not adding up. Sadly not a dream expert bit I did once meet one - Ian Wallace. It was in a totally different context so didn’t ask him about my dreams unfortunately!

on the upside i do get some of these dreams that you can control, like when you can fly which is fun!  I fairly recently dreamed i was playing for Scotland at hampden where we went a goal up and then all i wanted to do was pass it back to the full backs and centre halfs but they kept bombing forward!

I had no idea who Ian Wallace was so I googled ‘Ian Wallace’ and the first thing that came up was this guy. I then assumed you had met this footballer and that was the reason you were having dreams about playing for Scotland. But I couldn’t understand why you were calling him a dreams expert.

I did another google search this time ‘Ian Wallace dreams ‘ only to find there is another Ian Wallace .

No bloody wonder i have dreams about things not adding up correctly
