  1. Hi Meagain, The Blarney it is!!! See you Saturday afternoon
  2. Working in Berlin over the weekend. Any advice on a good pub that will definitely be showing the game? Is there a pub where Scot's tend to gather? Thanks in advance ?
  3. The London thread got me thinking about this. Of the cities you have visited what are your top 5? Not Greatest, just best fun, most beautiful etc. I'll go for: 1. New York 2. Prague 3. London 4. Paris 5. Berlin
  4. Not so sure about this...... I visited Hatshepsuts Temple in Luxor a few years after the 1997 Terrorist attack. They had installed scanners to check for weapons in bags etc but upon noticing everyone walking through and the alarm never sounding, I asked my guide if they were working, he replied 'Of course not cos they're not plugged in' I've never truly trusted Egyptian 'Security' since that moment.
  5. I thought BofB was absolutely amazing, I've watched it through 3 times now. The Pacific I lost interest in after 2 and a half episodes, do I need to go back to it and persevere??
  6. A mate of mine who has regularly attended games for the last 30 years and now has two wee boys (4 & 6 years old) was in the family section on Monday night. He had to spend the whole night holding the boys up above his head as they couldn't see anything as all the rows in front were full of adults, with no kids, who stood for the whole game. He also said he had some unsavoury pr*cks behind him who kept falling onto and standing on the kids seats.
  7. What dates are you visiting Aviemore? I gig regularly in the Cairngorm, usually good craic and if you's enjoy Scottish music with a few TA songs thrown in then I'm sure you's will have a good night
  8. That is one of the weirdest documentaries I have ever seen on modern day politics, let alone Scottish politics. If that was shot in Russia, North Korea or Syria the media would ridicule it. I now have a new No1 target (Danny Alexander aside) that I wish to see losing his seat. I think he'll hold on though
  9. For months I have thought this is too good to be true but now I am convinced that the vast majority of those who voted Yes are going to go back into the voting booth and vote SNP. I cannot see the whole 2 million who voted No getting out and voting so it all adds up to the SNP taking a huge share of the vote, certainly in excess of 40%.
  10. Terrible debate, worst I have seen during the whole referendum and current GE campaigns. The only consolation is the SNP support is only going to become more entrenched and strong minded as these 4 verses 1 'debates' continue.
  11. Good good, I think I'll settle down to a cooked breakfast whilst watching Nicola rip into the pair of mugs
  12. Awful report of the debate on STV news ? Made Murphy look like the voice of reason dishing it out to Sturgeon & Davidson.
  13. Getting people who voted No to vote SNP is the first step. Govern well, represent the people well, gain their trust and confidence and THEN these people will vote Yes in the next referendum. TRUST is the key.......
  14. Today, two family members of mine, both in their 60's and dyed in the wool unionists and royalists, who voted No in the referendum despite my very best efforts, told me that they think 'Nicola' (they didn't use her surname) is absolutely wonderful and that they will be both be voting SNP on May the 7th. I never thought I would see the day. The times they ARE a changing.
  15. SNP - 55.3% (+26.0) LAB - 35.8% (-8.5) CON - 4.4% (-0.4) UKIP - 3.2% (+3.2) LDEM - 1.3% (-1.3) 34.5% swing from Labour to SNP. If that is replicated across the country in May then, well........
  16. BBC now reporting the leak that one of the pilots was locked out of the cockpit. I know nothing about planes, if the pilot had collapsed at the 'wheel' wouldn't the plane simply continue to cruise at 38,000 feet? Does a manual act have to be performed to decrease the height to 8000 feet?
  17. This always has and always will sicken me the most. Saw an elderly couple the other night who I met one year ago. Then they were both fairly fit and healthy but the classic No voter, (we're too poor, too small, can't look after ourselves, lose our pensions, fought together in the war etc etc) a year on they are both holding each other up, near crippled and will probably be 6 feet under before this year is out. These were the people who decided our countries future.
  18. If the SNP take the D&G and Dumfriesshire seats I will be utterly amazed. As a junior SNP member in the mid to late 90's I attended the Annan Branch meetings, 5 was a good turnout, me plus 4 ageing activists no longer with us who had given their all for independence their whole life's. I will raise a glass to them if we win either one of those seats.
  19. Aviemore. Loads to do during the day whether it be walking, climbing or something more adventurous like zip-lining or the many other sports around the area. At least half a dozen bars, music every night in The Cairngorm Hotel which is also a great spot to stay with fantastic food. Just a 45 minute drive to Inverness and likewise to distilleries such as Dalwhinnie, Glenlivet & Glenfiddich. Sunday lunch on the Steam train to Boat of Garten is a nice relaxing way to top off a great weekend. You's would have a blast!!! Oh & you might bump into Spud the Piper....... or me singing in the Cairngorm
  20. If & it looks likely that he loses this, he lost the mental & psychological battle. He had Djokovic at the start of the 3rd set but Djokovic's antics and tactics got to Murray and when Djokovic came roaring back, as we knew he would, Murray lost the plot. It was like turning the clock back 4/5 years to pre Lendl. He has the game, he has the fitness but on too many occasions doesn't have the mind. Needs a strong coach who understands and can control the mental side of Andy Murray.
  21. The reason for my belief that the SNP will do VERY well is based on the referendum. In the 2010 GE, 1.9m people voted for Unionist Parties, in the referendum 2m voted No. In the 2010 GE, less than half a million voted SNP but 1.6m voted Yes last year. If the SNP can get their vote up to the 1 million mark Labour seats will fall like dominoes, get it above 1 million and well.........
  22. For the SNP to get 52% of the vote we would most likely need every one of the 1.6m people who voted Yes to vote SNP, as we know this will never happen. If we can get 1 million people to vote SNP, I believe this is achievable, then we should get closer to 40% of the vote & something like 35-40 seats, I would take that anyday of the week
