dan cake Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 Great performance from Ajax, the so called Lionel Messi (as Martyn Tyler once described him) scores his 24th goal against English sides in tonight’s other game Quote
ParisInAKilt Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 Football just won’t be the same when Messi retires. Quote

dandydunn Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 My mate had a tenner on Sterling & Son to have 2+ shots on target each at 16/1. Came in after 19 minutes 😳 Quote
Toepoke Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 Spurs back in front after a nervous wait for VAR. Quote
McTeeko Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 VAR definitely slows the game down but you cannae argue with the decisions after review. Spot on 👍🏼 Quote

Spot on 👍🏼 It shouldn’t of been in use for me If it can’t be implemented for the whole competition, it shouldn’t be implemented at all imo. Quote

What, so Spurs may not have got their 3rd goal and Sterling’s injury-time ‘winner’ should’ve stood just cos Rosenberg v Celtic didn’t have VAR six months ago? 🤷🏼♂️ Quote

It is a dynamic game and ref mistakes (assuming they are always honest ones) were part of the dynamism. VAR is turning real football into American football. Ponderous and full of wank breaks (which suddenly will become advert breaks you see) and the decision-making is no better over anything that was not obvious to begin with. How is it Rugby is able to do this so well while Football is so shit. I get all that 100%, but surely getting the decisions right overrides everything else, no? Quote

How long before you think professional football players are playing this game? Teams don’t provoke VAR reviews. It comes from above by the head referee. It’s no like a time-out or something. Even if that DID eventually come into play you limit it to 2/3 challenges per game like in tennis. Edited April 17, 2019 by McTeeko Quote
